Brandy - You are in the same place as we all were at one time, confused and worried about spending money needlessly. Your issue of the fonts is not so much the large ones as the very, very small ones. Putting lettering on baby/children items can be a real problem. When you do a test sew out, you will...

To hoop or not to hoop, that is the question!! Did you get a chance to read my Hoop Blog ? The books are right, hoop when possible. I have gotten out of the habit of hooping. When I don't hoop, I use the 'frames' which are on most machines. I encircle my design with a simple square or circle...

Hello everyone - I like Hemingworth too, but so much has to do with the project, fabric, stabilizers - and, well so many things. I did a lovely pashmina (super hit on Christmas) which was black and the owner wanted a pink hummingbird on her pashmina. Well, I happened to have a new Hemingworth pink and...

So True Lynn - You will have no surprises if you do that test sew out. "There are two types of embroiderers, ones who do test stitches, and those who wish they did." I don't know who said it, but they said a lot in a few words! Pat

Interesting name - flying M creations! We all run into different issues from time to time. And this one is interesting. I think a photo of your problem would help to determine what the issue might be. If I understand you correctly, the design does not sew correctly and has gaps. Sweatshirts generally...

Thank you, Marge! I do have a tendancy to think all machines work like my BabyLock. I appreciate you for adding info that I could have missed. Pat, The Avid Embroiderer

Pattiann's information is good but it does have some limitations. For instance, it does not address the weight of the material which is a major consideration for stabilizers. Judy is correct, you need both an over the top and under the bottom stabilizers. Water soluble stabilizers (wss) are always...

Hi Margie - You also have a question on basting and I did make a suggestion for you at that forum thread. I suspect you need more understanding of stabilizers. That is one of my Blogs too. If you check for "The Avid Embroiderer" you will see "archives" and I did the stabilizer one...

I can not stress enough the fact ALWAYS,ALWAYS ,ALWAYS do test sew outs for any type of fabric. It is the best way to tell what stabilizers you need for that particular item. Some may need two, three even more .I never do any embroidery without WSS on the top.It just makes every project come out nicer...

My goodness,I just realized you had two types of fabric you are using here.Silly me !I would say again for the cotton, what are you using for stabilizer's? Cotton is a very light weight fabric,so dense stitches are likely to pucker it. I just thought of something else as well, did you re-size the design...
