Rita: As long as you are careful not to poke through the fabic it is fine to cut the stabilizer down between the letters, lines of text or anywhere else you fell is helpful. I do this most of of the time anyway so I am not pulling on the fabric as much when I tear it away. I have used Ann's tear...

I can not stress enough the fact ALWAYS,ALWAYS ,ALWAYS do test sew outs for any type of fabric. It is the best way to tell what stabilizers you need for that particular item. Some may need two, three even more .I never do any embroidery without WSS on the top.It just makes every project come out nicer...

My goodness,I just realized you had two types of fabric you are using here.Silly me !I would say again for the cotton, what are you using for stabilizer's? Cotton is a very light weight fabric,so dense stitches are likely to pucker it. I just thought of something else as well, did you re-size the design...

Well, I guess my first question ,is what are you using for stabilizers? Are you hooping it or are you going outside the hoop? If it were me I would use a sticky on the hoop, then an iron on,light tack tear away on the back of the sweatshirt. Then lay it on the sticky, and embroider it out side the hoop...

You can find these in your scraps, at a resale/charity shop or at your fabric store. You only need a small amount to do...

Hi, I have begun my journey as "The Avid Embroiderer" and my second Blog will be presented here on Annthegran on May 25, 2008 regarding stabilizers. I have been studying and researching information from all over the world about this confusing part of embroidery. You will see my information...

I discovered something else about 'tear away' stabilizer. The one I used only tore left to right (or up to down if I hooped it crosswise). See if that is the case. My new Blog, which will be posted on or about May 25 will be about stabilizers and all the factors I have learned over the years...

Stabilizer has to be among the most difficult to understand parts of ME (machine embroidery). Everyone has a question about it from time to time. Another thought about the stabilizer might be that you used 'cut away' thinking that it was 'tear away.' I had a project for 15 tote bags with...
