  • Re: Embroidery on a light weight T-shirt Fabric

So true, we don't ! I just know what works well. I won't recommend something that is not a quality product, as I too have bought inferior product that just does not do what they claim. These do! We are sewers just like you that have been "down the road" so to speak. (Gee, I just realized...

  • Re: Gaps, Puckering, Outlines

Margie, I just looked at the towels you are doing and they look like the same type of fabric that I am using right now,it is very thin cotton. this is only a suggestion, you might try using a basting stitch before you start your design to hold everything in place while the design is stitching out. When...

  • Re: PUCKERING

Hi Virginia, You are correct, puckering is one of the biggest problems a lot of ME folk complain about. It can be caused by several things, 1. that you have under stabilized the fabric 2. that your desired design is very stitch intensive and too much for the fabric, 3. that when you are hooping your project...

  • Design Puckering

Hey, you guys!! Rita Moreno fans and those of us who watched Electric Company will recognize that subject line! I enjoyed that show and wonder where it went to? Well, on to my problem. Yes, The Avid Embroiderer has a problem. I have a polyester and cotton apron for sale on my website and have sold several...

  • Re: What fabric brand do you recommend?

Mary, I would also double up on your fabric, cut 2 and serge them together or baste them together so they don't slide when embroidering. This is a very "heavy" design for this type of fabric. It looks very light weight. I got a hold of some fabric one time, that I thought was alright until...

Mary - It looks like the quilters have stepped up to the plate. Their recommendations sound very workable to me. I too was thinking that the most beautiful, and used, were quilts which had puckering. I always thought of it as part of the over all design. Interesting twist, quilters say to use it, carefully...

  • Re: What fabric brand do you recommend?

Quilters: What do you suggest? This is rather significant puckering. The outer frame of the design is on the dense side. I did think about skipping that border and using one of my own choice. It would depend on how effort intensive it would be on Mary's machine. Newer machines can frame this with...

  • Re: What fabric brand do you recommend?

Hi Mary, I also do a lot of quilting. Joan is right with the different weights with muslin. If you want to continue to use up what you have ,Joan suggested that you use water soluble stabilizer on top, that will help. But I think what you could do is maybe double the fabric, use a heavy stabilizer on...

Hey Pat, what fabric do you sugest for quilt blocks. I am using muslin as of now, but it is very light and may be causing some of my puckering problems, don't know yet. It is very hot here in Ala now also, just under 100% Mary

  • Re: puckers on fabric

Good Morning mjb125m! It is another lovely day in southern California! I should stop bragging because there are people who are suffering with floods and other things. I am blessed to be here. Puckering, the bane of all embroiderer's existence, gets its life from several sources. It can be too loose...
