Lonestarkayaker asked me why I am not a fan of Coats and Clark. That is a reasonable question. Here is my answer to her: I just had multiple bad experiences with Coats and Clark. And I try to remember, my experience is not your experience. One issue is that I find was that the thread I used had too many...

Marge-I will get the check in the mail tomorrow . . . One thing I did not mention was that the prewound bobbins had about twice as much thread on them as my home wound bobbins. I guess I am just a fan of prewound. The only exception is when I want the top and bottom thread to match. Pat

I have not used metal for a long time. In fact, I just tossed several metal bobbins because they were rusted. I can't think of any reason why, I just switched to plastic and stayed with it. I only use the plastic for colors to match the top thread. I definately prefer prewound bobbins . The ones...

Hey Joan, Were we sister's in another life? I do the same thing,I don't make a special trip, unless I need it for something in a hurry, but when I am out I always look for blanks for embroidery. You are right ,it makes it justifiable then. Besides like I said, I enjoy it and gives me something to...

I agree with Judy and Joan (they are both so knowledgeable). I use prewound bobbins almost exclusively. When I have to use another color, I have been winding myself (and I do mean winding myself) with my machine. My PE 180-D did require an adapter but I was never sure if that was because I got the wrong...

  • Coats Prewound Bobbins

Will someone please help me with some information about prewound bobbins? I have heard mixed reviews about prewound bobbins and my Brother PE 180-D machine. I know (think?) it uses Type "L" prewound bobbins, and although it's been suggested I try them, someone said they don't work well...

Mac-Welcome to the wonderful world of machine embroidery (ME)! You will be addicted to a terrific craft with lots of helpful, friendly people. Dumb questions answered immediately, stupid questions do take a little longer (LOL). I do have a Blog on stabilizers, but it does not specifically address this...
