  • Re: Hooping

Hello! Please do check out my Hooping/Hoopless Blog . I hope you will enjoy and get lots of info from it. Don't forget to do a "test sewout" because that will show issues before you do your project, that is a real money saver. There is so much to learn about ME. After 7 years, I learn new...

  • Does size matter? Well, that all depends.

Size matters if you have a design that’s 5 inches wide and your largest hoop is 4 inches wide. Size matters if you want to make a border along the edge of a tablecloth. Size matters if you want to combine two or three designs, each the size of your largest hoop, into one big design. First the cardinal...

  • Re: PUCKERING

Hi Virginia, You are correct, puckering is one of the biggest problems a lot of ME folk complain about. It can be caused by several things, 1. that you have under stabilized the fabric 2. that your desired design is very stitch intensive and too much for the fabric, 3. that when you are hooping your project...

  • Re: Trouble with design stitching out right

Hi Margie - You also have a question on basting and I did make a suggestion for you at that forum thread. I suspect you need more understanding of stabilizers. That is one of my Blogs too. If you check for "The Avid Embroiderer" you will see "archives" and I did the stabilizer one...

Sharon - I do unhooped as much as possible because it is flexible and easier on my hands. I hope you saw my 'hooping blog' that I posted on 6/6 in The Avid Embroiderer. I have used a standard ruler to assist me with centering. It worked sort of OK. Then, I recently got a " Placement Kit...

  • The Avid Embroiderer Presents "Hooping and Hoopless Embroidery" June 6, 2008

Hooping 101 Initially, I thought I might be able to discuss hooping in a single blog. After discussion with others and considering what hooping entails, hooping will be a series. I hope to share my experiences and what I have learned from some very accomplished ME people. Your thoughts and input is also...

  • Re: Stitch Density and Fabrics

Hi Jo, I always use the water soluable on top of any design,it helps lay the stitches on top of the fabric a bit more.there are many different weights of that as well, the one I use is the one at ATG .So far it is the best I have used,it is fairly economical, and it has never failed me yet. By using the...

  • Re: Stitch Density and Fabrics

I can not stress enough the fact ALWAYS,ALWAYS ,ALWAYS do test sew outs for any type of fabric. It is the best way to tell what stabilizers you need for that particular item. Some may need two, three even more .I never do any embroidery without WSS on the top.It just makes every project come out nicer...
