  • Portable Loyalty

When I first heard the term "Portable Loyalty" I thought that it did not refer to me. I am a loyal client. I buy where I am treated well. That goes for all of my purchases. A good example is the AlphabetXpress available here at AnnTheGran.com . I always check out new font/words programs because...

  • Hoop Impression or Burn

Occasionally you may be working with a dense or very sheer fabric and experience what is called hoop burn. Sometimes it is just an impression left on the fabric, but some of them can be a real burn. As previously noted, you can get the fantastic (IMHO) Snap-Hoop which you can read about in my blog about...

  • The Center of Attention

Over time, I have enjoyed doing my embroidery a great deal. Even when I was frustrated in the beginning (not necessarily limited to the beginning) when everything looked like a snarled mess, I just never wanted to give up. I listened to what the dealer's salespersons had to say. (Frankly, she had...

  • Biscornu, Chic and Classy

A biscornu is an elegant, eight sided ‘pincushion' whose origins have been lost over the centuries. Biscornu is a French adjective, literally meaning "two horned." It is also thought to be something that is irregular, a little lopsided. It is pronounced "biss-core-new."...

You may also want to review this post. I know that flannel and fleece are not the same, but they have similar components. It never hurts to see what others are doing. Pat, The Avid Embroiderer

  • General Conversation About Machne Embroidery & Stuff!

LaRue- We all felt that same way at one time or another! Overwhelmed, over informed and lacking in time! Your blog is really interesting and I know people are going to enjoy each and every one of them. Just a quick suggestion: At the top of your post in this forum there is a button called "Favorites...

  • Re: Stitch Density and Fabrics

Hi Jo, I always use the water soluable on top of any design,it helps lay the stitches on top of the fabric a bit more.there are many different weights of that as well, the one I use is the one at ATG .So far it is the best I have used,it is fairly economical, and it has never failed me yet. By using the...

  • Re: Stitch Density and Fabrics

I can not stress enough the fact ALWAYS,ALWAYS ,ALWAYS do test sew outs for any type of fabric. It is the best way to tell what stabilizers you need for that particular item. Some may need two, three even more .I never do any embroidery without WSS on the top.It just makes every project come out nicer...

  • Re: Stitch Density and Fabrics

My goodness,I just realized you had two types of fabric you are using here.Silly me !I would say again for the cotton, what are you using for stabilizer's? Cotton is a very light weight fabric,so dense stitches are likely to pucker it. I just thought of something else as well, did you re-size the design...
