  • Re: X-Stitch embroidery on Aida cloth

Welcome to the Wonderful World Of Machine Embroidery (ME). I cannot answer your question, but here is a blog and someone who knows a lot about Cross Stitching. I have seen some of the Vermillion Designs and found them to be fantastic. Certainly, we will help you find an excellent use for these fabrics...

You may also want to review this post. I know that flannel and fleece are not the same, but they have similar components. It never hurts to see what others are doing. Pat, The Avid Embroiderer

  • Re: What fabric brand do you recommend?

Marlene - excellent observation! What software are you using? Is it on your machine or available to purchase? I have had the same problems with EL designs. It is one reason why Ann's designs say "professionally digitized." That does not mean that EL designs are not professional, but even...

  • Re: Stitch Density and Fabrics

Hi Jo, I always use the water soluable on top of any design,it helps lay the stitches on top of the fabric a bit more.there are many different weights of that as well, the one I use is the one at ATG .So far it is the best I have used,it is fairly economical, and it has never failed me yet. By using the...

  • Re: Stitch Density and Fabrics

I can not stress enough the fact ALWAYS,ALWAYS ,ALWAYS do test sew outs for any type of fabric. It is the best way to tell what stabilizers you need for that particular item. Some may need two, three even more .I never do any embroidery without WSS on the top.It just makes every project come out nicer...

  • Re: Stitch Density and Fabrics

My goodness,I just realized you had two types of fabric you are using here.Silly me !I would say again for the cotton, what are you using for stabilizer's? Cotton is a very light weight fabric,so dense stitches are likely to pucker it. I just thought of something else as well, did you re-size the design...

  • Re: Stitch Density and Fabrics

Well, I guess my first question ,is what are you using for stabilizers? Are you hooping it or are you going outside the hoop? If it were me I would use a sticky on the hoop, then an iron on,light tack tear away on the back of the sweatshirt. Then lay it on the sticky, and embroider it out side the hoop...

  • Re: What fabric brand do you recommend?

I will sew on anything that isn't nailed down, but I prefer denim, canvas or canvas like fabric. I found some canvas like fabric and just love it for making embroidery that I am going to frame for a gift. I sew on a lot of cotton as well.I make baby quilts for family members, and cotton is soft and...

  • Re: What fabric brand do you recommend?

I don't have a brand, but I really enjoy using denim and canvas like materials. They are easy to use because they hold their shape; they don't need a lot of stabilizer, just something to keep it in place, and they have great coloration for sharpness of design. I often use them for my 'test...
