So true, we don't ! I just know what works well. I won't recommend something that is not a quality product, as I too have bought inferior product that just does not do what they claim. These do! We are sewers just like you that have been "down the road" so to speak. (Gee, I just realized...

Hi Virginia, You are correct, puckering is one of the biggest problems a lot of ME folk complain about. It can be caused by several things, 1. that you have under stabilized the fabric 2. that your desired design is very stitch intensive and too much for the fabric, 3. that when you are hooping your project...

I recently commissioned a 'portrait' embroidery of my grandson, Mason. The instructions include "use between 2 and 4 sheets of stabilizer." Since this was an outline with no fills, I was a little taken back by that. I talked with the digitizer and she said that the software she uses...

Mary, I would also double up on your fabric, cut 2 and serge them together or baste them together so they don't slide when embroidering. This is a very "heavy" design for this type of fabric. It looks very light weight. I got a hold of some fabric one time, that I thought was alright until...

Mac-Welcome to the wonderful world of machine embroidery (ME)! You will be addicted to a terrific craft with lots of helpful, friendly people. Dumb questions answered immediately, stupid questions do take a little longer (LOL). I do have a Blog on stabilizers, but it does not specifically address this...

Hi Jo, I always use the water soluable on top of any design,it helps lay the stitches on top of the fabric a bit more.there are many different weights of that as well, the one I use is the one at ATG .So far it is the best I have used,it is fairly economical, and it has never failed me yet. By using the...

Judy, Thanks for all your comments. SWEATSHIRT: I used a no-show-mesh for knit fabrics on the sweatshirt. Then I had a lightweight tear-away on the hoop. I did not hoop the sweatshirt for fear of hoop burn. I think I used a spray adhesive to attach the sweatshirt to the lightweight stabilizer, even pinning...

I can not stress enough the fact ALWAYS,ALWAYS ,ALWAYS do test sew outs for any type of fabric. It is the best way to tell what stabilizers you need for that particular item. Some may need two, three even more .I never do any embroidery without WSS on the top.It just makes every project come out nicer...

My goodness,I just realized you had two types of fabric you are using here.Silly me !I would say again for the cotton, what are you using for stabilizer's? Cotton is a very light weight fabric,so dense stitches are likely to pucker it. I just thought of something else as well, did you re-size the design...

Well, I guess my first question ,is what are you using for stabilizers? Are you hooping it or are you going outside the hoop? If it were me I would use a sticky on the hoop, then an iron on,light tack tear away on the back of the sweatshirt. Then lay it on the sticky, and embroider it out side the hoop...
