  • Biscornu, Chic and Classy

A biscornu is an elegant, eight sided ‘pincushion' whose origins have been lost over the centuries. Biscornu is a French adjective, literally meaning "two horned." It is also thought to be something that is irregular, a little lopsided. It is pronounced "biss-core-new."...

  • Hardanger, 6/12/09

Among the beautiful and creative hand embroidery work is a pattern called Hardanger. When looking for the history, I found several differing versions of how and where Hardanger got its start, but there is an agreement that Norway was prominent in its place of history for the work. Since Norway has a...

I have a Bernia Deco 500. Would like to have a cross stitch softwear program that would work with my machine in the PES format. Do you have any suggestions? Donna Barron dragonfly51 @ earthlink . net

There are many cross stitch designs in the Free Design area. Check when you get a minute. I am sitting on my money too, but it is really a small pile. Pat

  • Create special Christmas Treasures with our 9 Santas Quik Quilt Book and CD!

We have found that by making our cross stitch designs the centerpiece of a quick-to-quilt piece, a lovely finished result is achieved. Many embroiderers also love to quilt, so combining the two “media” seemed like a natural! Cross Stitch designs, especially the small ones, can be used in...

  • Font Issues

I got an email from Kmoses and thought it was a good question. Pat I have looked at some of your designs, and I must say they are great! I am new to this and have more than my share of problems, I must say some of these terms are a little strange to me. I have searched help, after help and still can...

  • Re: X-Stitch embroidery on Aida cloth

Hi Judoff, I believe the answer to this question is yes. I have seen many designs done on these types of fabrics and they look spectacular. I feel that as long as the fabrics you are asking about have been cared for properly in the storage of them they should be fine. By proper storage I mean, have they...

Welcome to the Wonderful World Of Machine Embroidery (ME). I cannot answer your question, but here is a blog and someone who knows a lot about Cross Stitching. I have seen some of the Vermillion Designs and found them to be fantastic. Certainly, we will help you find an excellent use for these fabrics...

  • Re: denisity and puckers

The general 'rule of thumb' issues still would be helpful. I have only done a few cross stitch designs, but they are so lovely as well. Use a medium weight fabric, a medium to heavy weight stabilizer, I would use a cutaway rather than a tear away for protection of the delicate stitches. Pat

  • Additional Information for Beary Good Friends Cross Stitch pack

Dear Ann, What is the height and width of each of the bears in the Beary Good Friends pack? When additional bears are grouped together and slightly overlapped, how are the under stitches deleted? Is a specific software programme required to use this design? Is this design suitable for stitching on a...
