My name is Angela and I live in a small village in Lincolnshire, England. I recently retired from my job as an occupational therapist in a local NHS hospital - a job I loved. I managed the inpatient team and carried a case load in Accident & Emergency. It was demanding work but really interesting and satisfying. I am married and have two grown up children (a son and daughter). I have always been very interested in crafts. I trained in dressmaking, tailoring, millinary and pattern cutting and went on to teach in a college - this was 30 odd years ago. I also taught soft furnishings for a short time. When I first trained in occupational therapy I worked with patients who were ill in hospital for a long time - the work involved lots of diversional craft work. I got the chance to learn lots of new crafts. In 1992 I taught myself cross stitch right from drawing and designing my own work through to stitching and stretching. I have always had sewing machines - even a Singer Futura but only found machine embroidery about 6 years ago. Now I am hooked. I have my sewing room in the garden and like to get out there when I can - hopefully more now that I have retired. Having said that, I also have elderly parents and a aunt who I provide support and practical help to. I am really pleased to have found, and joined, the ATG community - the members have been so helpful and friendly. I have learned such a lot from them already and their support has been invaluable.
