I live in Mansfield, TX and have been retired for the past 2 years. I have 3 children; 2 sons (Houston) and 1 daughter (Mansfield) who have given me 10 grandchildren. Nine of which are in Houston. My daughter and granddaughter live here in Mansfield on our 2 acre pc of property. She lives on the front acre and we live on the back.

My machine is a Babylock Ellegante 2 (Nancy Zieman signature) and I love it. Have had it now for a yr this past January. I mostly do embroidery. Sew something for children, grandchildren or my sisters every now and then, but prefer to do embroidery. My grand daughter loves it when grandma gives her the stitch outs I do. My sisters have been trying to get me into quilting, with not much luck. Just can't seem to get into that hobby yet. Maybe never will. I have one sister living in Plano and my baby sister lives in Louisiana not far from our Mom. My sister in Plano and I will be going to the Texas Sew Down in Grapevine this weekend. Sew excited, can't wait. If any of you will be there, let me know and maybe we can meet at some point. Would be great fun to meet some other North Texas ladies or gents or both.

My husband and I love to cruise. We will be taking cruise #8 in Nov. and finally get to take daughter and granddaughter with us. Cruise #9 will be in December. We also like to camp in our RV on the local lake. But cruising is by far our favorite form of recreation.

I just discovered this group and joined. I live in Weatherford, TX and am a embroidery and quilting fanatic - or at least that is what my husband says. I see there has not been much activity on this group since November. What is everyone working on?

Definitely want to check out Best Fabrics on Harry Hines. I've been to United Notions and P&B and love those places.

Hi Margie,

Welcome to Texas! Harry Hines in a name of a road in Dallas. "Best Fabrics" is a really good fabric store to visit.

When you are there, you can visit some of the warehouses behind Best Fabrics, there you will find a few other

fabric stores as well.

One of my first machines was a Janome and I really liked it. I never sewn on a Bernia, but I have heard that

people who have one and sew with it really likes it. I just bought a Brother Quattro 6000D and I love it! I just picked

it up on Saturday and can't stop sewing!

If you get to Dallas check out Best Fabric on Harry Hines Blvd.

Hi everyone. I'm from Sulphur Springs, TX. Glad to see the Northern part of TX is being represented. I'm afraid if I want fabric, I either order it online or go to Dallas area. What is Harry Hines and where is it. I moved to TX 1-1/2 yrs ago and I really don't know where anything is, outside of this area. Any information on where to get fabric is greatly appreciated. I have 2 embroidery machines: A bernia artista and a Janome MC 1000. Love both of them. I haven't been using them much though. I need to start with easy projects.

I hear you about wondering if you're the only Texan on here. They need to say hi, this is a great way to meet people with the same interest. Can you believe Christmas is just around the corner??? I'm still trying to figure out where August went!

Yes, there are lots of fabrics stores along Harry Hines; some that are hidden. I try to go as often as time will permit; here lately that hasn't been very much. I've been in Dallas for 6 years and I can't believe how it's changed in that short time! My husband has lived here all his life; you should hear him talk about the change. I don't get up to Lewisvill much these days.

Boy, I was beginning to think I was alone here. I know there are several people from the metroplex. I guess everyone is busy sewing for the holidays.

There are several fabric stores on Harry Hines, aren't there? I went to 1 a long time ago. Don't remember the name.It's been many years since I've been down there. I moved here 18 years ago and I shopped in Dallas and Carrollton all the time. Now that things have grown here I hardly go outside of Lewisville.

My name is Marsha and I live in Duncanville, Texas. I just purchased the new Brother Quattro 6000D (it hasn't come in yet; any day).

I am still very new at embroidery, but learning more everyday. I do a lot of shopping for fabric at Best Fabrics off of Harry Hines in Dallas. I am an interior designer and I buy a lot of my fabrics from the World Trade Center as well.

I've sewn for most of my life and I love it!

Hello and welcome to the North Texas group! I guess I'll get things started.

My name is Laura and I live in Flower Mound. I own a Husqvarna Viking Designer SE that I bought 2 years ago. Actually bought it at the State Fair. That's how I found out about Richland Sewing Center in Hurst. It's an amazing shop. Just wish it was closer to me. (or maybe not. wouldn't have any money left lol! ) I really enjoy the embroidery, especially FSL! I know I still have a lot to learn.

So where does everyone else live? What are your favorite sewing shops?
