I am in Daytona Beach which isn't too far from Melbourne. I joined the group not too long ago but haven't posted a whole lot except about the adoption. I am still doing my embroidery and all my other part time jobs too. I have been making a lot of ITH projects and selling them to friends, family and customers. I just finished embroidery on toilet paper which I really didn't think could be done but it worked. I just purchased some inexpensive stuff but there is a difference in quality on the paper so next time - the better stuff (something a little stronger) but what did come out was nice. I did 1 wedding ring ensemble, 1 4th of July and 1 with a set of eyes and "I am watching you" as a JOKE for 1 of my customers. I have the Ellure Plus with PEDesign 7 and want to eventually start my own business but in these 'trying' times, that won't happen. For now, I will do the smaller things and slowly build from there. I bought my machine from Sewing Garett here in Daytona which is really good and has an excellent repair man. They have always treated me fair and square and I am very appreciative about that. They have all been very courtious and helpful every time I go in there. They are very helpful too when it comes to my PED 7 program and help with digitizing.

Hi everyone,

I just started coming to FL(Wildwood) a bit of time in the winter this year.I don't know my way around yet. I also have a 4500 innovis.I'll stay a bit longer next year and will need to find myself a shop.

I did have to learn to do things differently...the humidity gave me a hard time.I am fairly new at ME(aug/sept 08)....and basically 21st century machines(sewing).LOL. I sewed on a 1950 Modernage for 35+ yrs. I need to learn to adjust my ME under any weather conditions.

Betty, do you have a warranty? That is a shame both you ladies are having problems and there is nowhere close to repair/maintain your machines.You asked about other machines like yours.Twice while I was in the dealer's store where I can always use his sewing room if I have a big project...I had 2 quirky things happen to my machine. He had his repair guy check them on the spot and fix them. The factory had forgot to set my bobbin tension at all and another freak thing(he told me-unusual). I was lucky I happened to be there.

I did just take my machine in to be tweaked after returning from FL. I had thread wrapped around inside at the top..so the machine had gotten a bit testy,but I could tell that.(it was not yet due for its 'check up")

Hi,
I just got back from vacation and saw your problem/request for help w/ the software. I also have the SE..and 4D Extra software which I am still learning( It is hard).Don't give up.I am now revamping this email. I THINK you have the basic version and should be able to do many things.I tried to email you and it came back to me.

Here is what I have so far.(this first one is online tutorials from Viking. I am told they are very helpful. I have not tried them yet but am going to)

Next I got instructions for how to access the guides that are inside the 4D itself( I know...uugghhh. I haven't done this yet either).These I got online from someone who teaches 4D.
Go to start on your computer
Left click computer
Left click 4D embroidery folder
Left click Guides
left click reference folder
Left click main Modules

You will see PDF files for all programs.(have a huge supply of ink and paper.also those clear "jacket type' folder-holders,pocket type things). This is the answers to all your questions. It is step by step lessons FREE....workbook style. Many don't know these are right in their software program.
Print what you want/are interested in learning...as you need it...or want to learn that particular thing.Then save in those folders in case you need it later.
I am told by those who have done this...that it does truly work.They can do everything w/ their software.
There is also a "Quick Link Accessory" file in here.This is quick/helpful reference guides....no as much work as above..probably not as much detail..but it's a start.

(no, I haven't done it yet.I found out about it right before my vacation.I was working by trial and error..mostly error.LOL).

I also found a freebie online called SophieSew.com. Totally free digitizing program which I figured(hoped like mad) probably works a bit like the 4D. The tutorials are step by step..great program. I know...I thought...why am I sitting here learning this free program when I cannot work the stuff I paid for.(company came over,so I had to stop.LOL).

I have more info if you want it.You can find EVERYTHING online.Send me a message here in ATG.Give me specifics on what you are trying to do...I'll try to help.

Ok..sorry if I rambled...I know that frustrating feeling and how long it took me to find the links. Now I,myself have to use them.

Hi Fustrated in MARYLAND. Recently purchased a designer SE. Have been sewing for almost 50 yrs and have had so many set backs with this program. I have had the machine for over 1 month. Have spend numerous hours wathcing the CD's and reading the books and going to the VIKING galleries to get advice. i am getting to the point of being almost afraid of this wonderful piece of machinery. IS THERE any where I can get more step by step advice on how to do things with this machine? I only have the 4D Organizer. I have not purchased the additional software to do embrodery. Sorry I can't help you with a repair shop but I would call the different quilt shops and see if they can recomend someone. But I will try and help with any questions on ME.

This is the quilt I have beden talking about for awhile. I finished it with the Betty Cotton Theory. It worked well and doing ME quilts this is the easist way I have ever put one together. I call it My Window Garden.

Glad you have 10 below and not us, I complain when it hits 40 above.

I see where the Community Circle for 2009 is posted. I am afraid with the economy the way it is that unless something wonderful comes along I can't spend $350.00 (includes the hotel) for a meeting. Last year I really enjoyed myself and will be sorry to miss it this year.

Hi Patty,

You have gotten I believe one of the best programs for ME. It is a very simple program and you should have a Help File along with it.

To change a design size go to tools, from there you can resize to your hoop or by putting in new fields. It depends on the disign just how much you can change it. It will add stitches or remove them but only up to a certain point. A very dense design will not resize smaller very well, on the same token a very light design will look sparse when you enlarge it to much. Just play with it and if you are not sure always do a test sewout.

When you start putting your files in it DO NOT remove them from the hard drive. Also do not change where they are located, the program will not be able to find them and it will tell you 'file not found'. Arrange your files on the hard drive for the catagory you are doing and then put that design in the same catagory in CATX. Example; cats to cats, flowers to flowers etc. I learned to hard way about this. When you have 2500 designs you have to know where they are.

Also make notes about your designs after the sew out, it will help in the furture when you use that design again, you can do this right from the CatX page.

Help with Cat XPress

Hi, I recently downloaded the trail verison of Cat Xpress and thought it was (and is) just what I needed to help with my embroidery, BUT I need help. I don't understand out to use it. By accident I was able to change the size of a design, but when I tried another I couldn't remember out I got there. Are there classes on this software? Has anyone else used it? Help!!

I sure wish I was in Florida these days. It sure is cold here in WI.

Effective Monday, 1/12 @ 9:22 AM, I am officially a grandmother to the 4 Kids that my son and DIL have been trying to adopt for the past 3 1/2 years!! My son called me and said that the whole process took about 8 minutes and boom - they were theirs!! It's a great feeling to finally have that all over. The next child won't be so long or so much red tape....that will happen later on in the year when the parents give up their parental rights to the child and it goes to the judge!!
