There's the Sewing Studio in Maitland, just north of Orlando a little bit.  It's a real nice store.

    Hi Judy,

Did not know how to write you personally so decided to come in on this end.  I just read where your embroidery machine crapped out.  I am so sorry.  I do hope you can find a dealership to question repairing it.  When I read that, I raced to Ebay because last week-end I saw a Brother Innov-is 4000D up for a $300 bid.  Could not believe my eyes and my heart sunk.  A widower had someone post the machine on Ebay - late wife only used the machine for 6-7 months.  Apparently, person selling did not know the full and real cost of this machine.  My mind was racing, but no one I know is interested in machine embroidering.  Well, it was gone.  Sorry.  I should have put that on my "To Watch" list just to see where it ended up.  Ebay is a gamble but there are a lot of nice people out there still in the sewing area.  Some women think they want this and realize they never even open up the box (have a friend who has owned her machine for 12 years and never removed from box) so it's worth a look once in a while.  Even husbands purchase machines for their wives and they have no idea what they are buying and wives don't want it.  See a lot of sergers listed for that reason!  I know you are passionate about embroidering...it comes across.  I hope you can figure out something either with repairs or running into one with dumb luck (that's how I came into mine; Ebay - it sold, but seller was dealership 1-1/2 hours away and offered same price for new one!!! --- dumb luck).  Hang in.

Thank you Joan, That was very nice of you to say that and think of me. It is much appreciated, you will never know how much!! If you ever want to e-mail me personally you can do so by going through this site. Just hit the contact button and it will get to me.

Yes I have been so bummed since mine went to embroidery heaven! I do intend on taking it to another dealer in Tampa and have them check it out as well, you never know. Maybe this guy just really doesn't know about that particular brand or something. At any rate Thanks for reminding me about E-bay. I will check Craig's list as well and see what I can find. I really do not have a lot of money to actually spend on one right now, but if I could get a good deal on one,I may have to consider it sooner than later. First I do want to verify that there is nothing that can be done to revive Bertha! At what point do you say, it is too much to pay to fix it. I guess that answer is how old is it,and can I get a comparable model new for less, then have a new machine compared to an old machine that may explode on me,Ha! With the luck I have been having the last few weeks, I am afraid to touch any major appliances, the dryer quit yesterday. So I am swearing off electrical things for a while!!

I used to pick up quite a few nice items on E-bay but also know you have to watch it as well. I have gotten a few stinkers too,LOL. Again, thanks and I will keep my eyes peeled on E-bay.

I take my Brother 8500 to Quilting Folks 1300 N Cocoa Blvd., Suite C Cocoa, FL 32922 (321) 631-8601.  I have been pleased with their service and understanding of my machine.  I know Cocoa is a bit of a trip for you but I think Quilting Folks is the Mayo Clinic when it comes to my machine Big Smile

Hope you can bring your machine back to life ;-)

    Hi, ladies,

We're almost ready to announce our Community Circle event (dates are March 27-29, 2009) and we're looking at working with a local dealer. Do you know who runs the Sewing Studio in Maitland that Roseanne was talking about? I'd like to contact them but I hate cold calls! Also, do they sell any machines, or just fabric and notions?

Also, has anyone visited the one below in Lake Mary, or is this the same one? Address is different but the name is the same. Can y'all give me your insights on this?

Sorry, I don't know who runs that shop.  As for the one in Lake Mary, I've never been there.  Didn't even know about it until now.  This one is a little farther away from Orlando the the one in Maitland.   Lake Mary is actually close to where I live here in Orange City.  I may just have to go check it out.  Big Smile

Well this is good news I can't wait to sign up for this years Community Circle.

Any idea when the announcement will come? Will it just be on Ann's site or will we get an email as well?

    Greg,

That is the same shop.  They closed the one in Maitland and moved to Lake Mary.  I forget the owners name but I know Ann knows them because that is where she gets her machines services.  The husband is a bit of a jerk for lack of a better work but the wife and son are great.  I Ann isn't home in time to ask I can call and find out for you because that is where I take my machine.

To the best of my knowledge The Sewing Studio is still in Maitland.  I'll have to check it out this weekend while my mom's visiting.  She likes visiting these kinds of stores.  Wink
