Hi everyone!
I received in my e-mail this morning from Cathy and Bill Lindlau, about the charity called "Heart To Heart". I am going to enclose some of the note I received so that you all know what is going on.
Judy,
Yesterday I met with Ellen Parcell to tour the Heart to Heart home. The home is beautiful. It has warm beige/tan walls in an Italian/Spanish tone. The color is warm and has an almost gold (but not quite) tint to it. I hope this describes it. While the bedrooms are kind of furnished they are in desperate need of some nice blankets and bed covers. So bed covers are the priority now. I think even some plain blankets that are new would be appreciated.
They have 10 twin beds, 6 junior/toddler size beds, and 6 cribs. They try to have everyone in the program complete the program so the children are not older than 6 years when their mother's leave the house.
I can coordinate delivery of any items we can send them. We could have people send them to my house or if they are in the Orlando area I could possibly pick them up.
I sure hope we can maybe get a few quilts to make these rooms look more finished. Right now they have a mix of well used and mismatched blankets on the bed. I think the junior and crib beds would be great if they had some bright cheerful bedding and maybe a twin quilt that would coordinate but be suitable for adult women.
I also noted the windows only have blinds and while window treatments are not a priority right now they would surely look nice. Ellen mentioned that cornice boards would be great. I have made so many cornice boards I lost count. So with some help on purchasing supplies my handy hubby and I could take care of that. But if anyone wants to help with the construction that would be great.
They have a spacious back porch, but it does not have screens. It has one large open wall and a few small windows. I may see if I could find someone that installs screen rooms to take care of that for them.
All in all I was very impressed with the facilities. I will get the address and phone number to you if you want them. Let me know what other information you may want. Ellen would probably be to meet with a few of us together but since it is a home I am not sure how many people they want parading through there.
What do you think? If the group could see the home and hear what they are doing I know they would fall in love with the place like I did.
Catch you later, Take Care and God Bless! And thank you for all you do for our group.
Cathy L.
So now my question to you all is, does this not sound like a worthy charity? It certainly sounds like they could use some help! Cathy said they get 4 to 5 calls a day for help,so they always have a full house.
I have Cathy and Bills phone number but cannot post it in here, so if you contact me or Cathy Lindlau, we will be glad to help you get started with the projects. This is a shelter for battered and abused women and children. Cathy is working on getting the logo for this organization so that we would have it to put on anything we would make for them, Cathy I need you to get me their phone number and address as well as permission to use their logo, on the items as well as on the site.
Cathy also said if any of you that live in the Orlando area that if you call her she can arrange a pick up of any items. I do agree that a few of us may want to go and see it,but that too many may cause upset of the folks that live there and are trying to get some order back into theirs lives. The last thing we want to do is upset these nice people. I am sure many of the women are easily frightened with everything they have been through.
Cathy I am going to put you in charge of distribution and keeping us posted on the needs of the folks here, so keep us posted on what is going on with them, Thanks!
Judy
Help me to start each day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude!
