How well I remember being where you are! There is a great deal to learn, and you are biting off just a little more than most newbies usually do. May I suggest that you do some reading? Your manual for your machine, assuming that you have one, is for the machine and not for embroidery. My first three...

Great information, thanks Marge! What an interesting way to decide on stabilizers. I never thought of it that way, but certainly, the number of stitches does enter into the equation. So, all you newbies, read all the great information in the Forums and Blogs here at ATG and you will find yourself being...

To hoop or not to hoop, that is the question!! Did you get a chance to read my Hoop Blog ? The books are right, hoop when possible. I have gotten out of the habit of hooping. When I don't hoop, I use the 'frames' which are on most machines. I encircle my design with a simple square or circle...

LaRue- We all felt that same way at one time or another! Overwhelmed, over informed and lacking in time! Your blog is really interesting and I know people are going to enjoy each and every one of them. Just a quick suggestion: At the top of your post in this forum there is a button called "Favorites...

I am surely missing something here. Why is everyone spraying their hoops? I use 505 to attach stabilizer to my fabric prior to hooping and I also use it to spray fabric pieces for applique. The spray never comes into contact with the hoop. Is there a technique of which I am unaware? Thanks in advance...

Hi Virginia, You are correct, puckering is one of the biggest problems a lot of ME folk complain about. It can be caused by several things, 1. that you have under stabilized the fabric 2. that your desired design is very stitch intensive and too much for the fabric, 3. that when you are hooping your project...

Hi Margie - You also have a question on basting and I did make a suggestion for you at that forum thread. I suspect you need more understanding of stabilizers. That is one of my Blogs too. If you check for "The Avid Embroiderer" you will see "archives" and I did the stabilizer one...

Hi Jo, I always use the water soluable on top of any design,it helps lay the stitches on top of the fabric a bit more.there are many different weights of that as well, the one I use is the one at ATG .So far it is the best I have used,it is fairly economical, and it has never failed me yet. By using the...
