Help! I can't get my Pfaff 7570 nor my Brother 8500D to work!

I got a new computer with Windows Vista operating system, and it did not have the 9 pin driver to hook my embroidery machines up to so I bought a 9 pin adapter that ran off a USB port.

This adapter software would not complete Setup with Vista, and they did not have an update available.  So I bought a new driver for my computer with two 9 pin hookups so that i could get both machines set up at once.

Problem solved right?  Wrong!  Neither machine worked.

Thought that I found the problem though.  The driver was set up to run on com5 and com6; and the Pfaff was to run on Com1, com2, com3, or com4.

So I called the place where I bought the driver, and they told me how to change the com 5 and 6 ports on the driver to com 1 and 2.

I thought that surely the sewing machines would work now right?  Wrong!

The message changed on the Pfaff to check the cables instead of not communicating, but the Brother still just says no security device installed.

The Brother dealer had gone out of buisness so I went to see my Pfaff dealer, and they told me that I had to reset the compatibility in the software to see if I could get one which would work.

To do this I had to restart Windows each time going through Windows 95 and on up.

I spent the rest of the afternoon doing this and none of the compatibilities work.

Then I come here for answers and my problem seems to be that neither machine will work with Vista.

My question is will they work with Windows 7?

I have been told that Windows 7 does not have the problems that Vista does, and most software programs will work with it.

Has anyone tried it yet?  Does it work with these two machines?

I know that the new Pfaff Creative Vision will solve all my problems, and I would do about anything to be able to purchase it, but I am $9000 short of the cash to pay for it with poor credit history and a hubby with lung cancer who was told today that they have done about all that they can do for him who is no longer able to work so buying this machine is just not going to happen.

So how do I get my two older model embroidery machines softwares to work?

What machine embroidery software are you using?

Most have an update so they can run with Vista 32, but not Vista 64.

My software is all bout as old as me I guess.  My Brother Machine is using Pe-Design 4.0, the Pfaff is using PCD_Win with no clue what version, and the computer is using Windows Vista 64.

I downloaded a trial version of Windows 7 from Microsoft, but it is lost on my computer somewhere in the temporary internet folder which I have searched for over an hour to find on my hard drive with no success. I found the download file and the temp file, and it is not there so where it is hidden is a mystery to me.  I hate Vista!

The format for the Pfaff is most likely pcs.

I found this software, which is compatible with Vista 64, a card reader   - http://www.allbrands.com/products/abp13261-0165.html

The rewritable cards are sold seperatly.  Here is the one for the Pfaff -

The ultimate box looks interesting, but does it not just transfer designs from the computer to your embroidery machine?

What I am trying to do is to embroider words on a doll apron that looks hand embroidered after it is finished.  I just want it to do kind of a straight outline stitch instead of having a satin fill with an outline stitch around it.  I would rather do the letters on the Brother machine since it will do a bigger picture then the Pfaff, and the PE_Design software won't work until it sees the security device.

Sounds like it is not going to happen though with my computer.

I bought Windows 7 today because everyone told me that it would fix my problems with my sewing machines software, and I just finished nstalling it.

I am so upset because the software to these two machines still will not work.

I have spent almost $200 that I did not really have to spend between the 9 pin drivers and Windows 7.

I have went through every compatibility setting on the machine with Windows 7, and even had it check compatibility for me in help, and the final verdict was that the software just will not work.

If anyone else has the software to create their own designs or to download designs from the internet with for the Pfaff 7570 and the Brother 8500 Disney Embroidery Machines my advice to them is to not upgrade their computers.

These two older machines will not work with Vista nor Windows 7.

Both of these embroidery machines were bought new from the dealers paying thousands of dollars for them, and it is a shame that they will not upgrade the software for them anymore.  What do they expect us to do with them?  Just throw them out?

My Pfaff dealer is going to see if they can get any help for me Monday from the Pfaff Corporation.

If they can't help me then my only choice is to find a computer with Windows 98 on it.

Trying to install the software to these two embroidery machines has been a nightmare.  I am about ready to sling both machines to the creek.

I tried to download the dongle instructions from Pfaff and discovered that the installation of Windows 7 took out all my fonts to Microsoft Word so it crashes and shuts down every time I try to print them out.  This means that none of my saved documents will print out either until I reinstall Microsaft Word, and of course I sold a pattern over the weekend.

My daughter is supposed to come and reinstall Microsoft Word for me this evening.

I am about at my wits end with these two machines so if anyone has any advice I am ready to listen.  My Pfaff 7570 computer design software is the PC Win 2.1, and the Brother 8500D software is the PE design 4.0.

The software to the Pfaff works.  It just tells me that my cable is loose when I try to download a design.

When I try to start the Brother software it tells me that the security device is not installed and shuts down though the security device is there.

If the driver download at Brother does not work - I would throw in the towel and either purchase software that is compatible with the newer versions of Windows or buy a used PC with Windows XP.

Re: Help! I can't get my Pfaff 7570 nor my Brother 8500D to work!

I could not get any program to work on my computer last night, and I was pretty upset with Windows 7 when I had four Ebay orders that had came in over the weekend waiting to go out.

This morning I updated my Kodak printer so that I could try to reprint the shipping label that crashed my program everytime I tried to print it out yesterday, and after the update the label printed out perfectly.  I quickly got the other two boxes ready to ship and printed out labels and put them out for mailman to pick up.

Last night Microsoft Word refused to work also, and I had also sold a doll pattern that needed to be printed and shipped out.  After I updated my printer software Word had somehow found its missing fonts and was now working.

My Adobe Photoshop also was not working last night so I clicked on my pictures in Windows and all of them opened in Photoshop just like they were supposed to so looks like my Kodak printer update fixed the problems in most all my programs.

I like Windows 7 now that most of my programs seems to work.  Before when I clicked on pictures in Windows mode only the file name was visible.  Now the picture is visible, and this makes finding things so much easier.  Also I now can send a fax when I did not have a fax available to me before.

After my printer update I was then able to download the Dongle with no problem so I now got a Dongle, but sad to say I still could not send a design to my Pfaff sewing machine.  It stills says to check the cables.

I then went a little crazy, and during my temporary? madness I called my daughter and told her that I had downloaded a Dongle, but my Dongle did not work.  I asked her if she thought it would help if I got a man to use it.  She told me that I needed help.

I tend to agree with her!

I hope that updating to Windows 7 does not drive you as crazy as it did me.
