Catalogs allow viewing. When you save, you want the design to go back to where it is stored. Nothing stays in a catalog.
If you store your designs on the pc's hard drive, you could create new folders and name them according to the designs you have (flowers, cars, dogs, cats, holiday are examples you might use) before viewing and saving.
