    Monogramming

I just got my PE700II last week and I'm loving it.  I do, however, have a question that I can't seem to get answered by reading the manual.  I want to do monogramming (three letters w/ the middle letter larger) and can't figure out how to make a middle letter a different size.  Also, if I use a font that I downloaded and brought over from my computer, it saves it as one letter at a time and then I can resize the letters but can't get them lined up perfectly.  Does that make any sense?

    Thanks!

    Re: Monogramming

I was in the same situation a few weeks ago! I bought the machine and was so excited and then couldn't figure out how I was supposed to make it work with my computer in order to see designs on the screen and be able to arrange the monograms, etc.  I thought it was unfortunate that when you buy your machine it doesn't say anywhere that even though it connects to the computer right away, you will have to have some kind of software in order to be able to use it!    There are tons of software programs available that can cost many hundreds of dollars.   I came across an AWESOME product called Stitch Era Universal.  It is a fully functioning digitizing software that does tons of things that I'm sure I won't understand for years to come.   The software company, Sierra is offering the software for free.........they sell much more detailed packages as well.   If you are able to have a constant internet connection, which is required for the software to work, I totally recommend this.  There is a yahoo group for users of this software package, and I got nearly immediate replies from the company when I posted questions about how to get started with this.  I, like you, only was looking to combine 3 individual fonts to make monograms.   It is so simple with this.   There is one distributor in the US for this--go to www.lorileedesigns.com and click on 'free software' ---you pay $15 to get the cd and you can install it on as many computers as needed.  I have had much fun already playing with it!!!

    Re: Monogramming

I thank you for the infor on lorilee software; I just purchased it and will be anxious to try when it arrives.  I have been trying to find a way to not only do the same thing that the person talked about that you replied to, but to also find a way to do small lettering on baptisam hankies for our church.  Eveything one can use as a smaller font is a boxy block and that just doesn't look nice on something for a newborn.  I have purchased two other inexpensive programs, but have been very dissappointed in them.  Putting out big sums of money on software that may not be that easy to learn is another thing I am concerned about.  There is a lot of conflicting information about the "ease" of use for many of the more expensive programs.

Have you tried any of their "purchased instructions", or can one navigate through this on their own?  It looked as though it had a lot of features and if anyone has ever used this type of software, they would be familiar with the functions, but sometimes, those functions don't perform too well!
