    Viking Designer One Software Help (Urgent)

    re: "No dongle attached, cannot complete function"  You folks on this site, rock! I'm all fixed up now and everything is working fine. It was a software version issue (had two versions and the current dongle only works with one of them). Thank you!

    message was regarding: I've tried installing and uninstalling drivers and what it says are the dongle device drivers. I have the purple USB dongle that was an upgrade. It sits in the computer USB port and has never been a problem. I run windows XP, but it has always worked as far as I remember. The original 5.0 program had a parallel dongle, and you had to take a coin-like piece out of it and send it in to Viking and get back the purple USB type dongle. My machine is the Designer 1 with the floppy drive that uses the .shv files, and we really have no money at this time to get new software.

     Thanks for anything you can do.

    FYI VIP works with only versions 6.X and above (purple dongle)

    Parallel dongle works with versions up to 5.5 of Prof. Embroidery System

    It sounds like you have had your hands full for some time.  I hope things are going better for you.

    I don't have the machine or software but might have a suggestion.  I would call around to the Viking dealers in my area, and beyond to see if there is someone who can help.

    Even when the main page for Viking may have removed some of the information, they almost always have a forum for questions or someone to contact.  I would contact the support for the site as well.  They usually have a way to get in touch with some one to help you.

    Don't give up, keep searching!  Also, you may not be aware, but Google, Yahoo, SearchMe and any other of the search engines never bring up exactly the same information.  So if you are using Google, give SearchMe a try, etc.

    Hi,

    I had a diff machine w/ diff software. I did however have the 'dongle" and error message problem. I called Viking and they helped me a bit on the phone.(my problem was my internet explorer was messed up and that is the default for Viking=the dongle being recognized by Viking).They did help me w/ a few tech issues.

    I have a designer one, and it is possible that your dongle is not being recognized by the usb port on your computer, if you have two ports try another one, also you could call a viking dealer and have them give you the software ,dongle service number. I have had to do that my dongle actually came apart and I had to pay 50.00 for a new one, you have to turn the old one in.  worth a shot. iowadelila

    You will have to contact customer service regarding the ID issue.
