    Alphabet Express Fonts and Cuffs

Does anyone have a suggestion as to which font that comes with Alphabet Express is best to use on shirt cuff monograms, which typically have to be reduced to 3/8" (or .375 inches)?  Also, what is the best fill to use when reducing the font to .375"?  I have a couple of cuffs I can use for a test sew out, but want the cuffs on my son's shirts (spell that expensive shirts...birthday present) to be perfect.

If none of the fonts reduce to that size well, any suggestions for a font or alphabet that does would be welcome.

Have been busy as a one-armed paper hanger these past few weeks, so I have about 25 projects piling up waiting to be sewn.  Geeze..where does the time go now that I'm retired?  I wonder sometimes how I ever had time for a job!  Have missed "chatting" with all of you.

    Hi Rita,

I agree with you on the time thing. Since leaving work in 01, I seem to be working harder now than I did when I worked. I'm not sure how that happens! Big Smile

Thats ok, I am a 9 fingered typist lately!  Big Smile

Judy, I've been camping in the mountains for a week (beautiful weather, gorgeous scenery, and my granddaughter...we had a ball) and was wondering how your finger is doing.  I hope you're back to ten-fingered typing by now.

It's alright but still not really in shape to punch keys too much. Because it went through the nail I have to wait for it to come off,so have been sort of careful with it as I don't want it to tear. So I am still using 9 and 1/2 right now. But I love my new keyboard!! I haven't had any problems with my wrists going to sleep  ,my fingers ,well no hope for them except this new rub the doc gave me for my hands, knees and back. It works ok but is not very long acting so I have to re-apply it a lot,but it is better than the alternative of having them very stiff, sore and un usable.

Sounds like you had a blast!! I love the mountains! I could live there in a heart beat! I always thought I would end up in Tennessee in the Smokey's really but instead we moved to toasty Florida. Tom really likes it here,I would like it more if we went to the beach more. I love the beach and picking up sea shells, but Tom couldn't care less. He is always ready to go after an hour or so. I would stay all day,LOL!

I love spending time with my 14 year old Grand daughter, she is a blast! We always have so much fun together. I really miss her and my daughter a lot. We used to call each other every day and see each other at least 3 to 4 times a week. So I really miss having that connection with her and the kids. She hasn't financially been able to come down and I really cannot afford to pay for all three of them to do that, sad to say. But not sure they could get away any way as the kids are both in band and they are doing that a lot, with marching band.

Well guess I had better go check on how dinner is coming along. Put a couple of chickens in the oven in one of those bags with some potato's and some spices. With 3 extras here it makes a difference. Of course the little one doesn't eat anything but junk food literally, then they cannot figure out why she won't eat dinner. She snacks all day on chips, doritos and junk and eats nothing else. Oh well not my kid!!LOL they can do what they want but they hadn't better be calling me when she turns 13,LOL!! I think they are headed for major problems with this one,she may be the last one too. She is a cute kid but Wow,she is the one who runs them not the other way around. It's scary. She demands they provide, and I do mean demands! Whew!

Got to run my package from Ann The Gran just arrived,so that is always like Christmas to me,LOL! No matter what it is!

Take care and Thanks for inquiring.

    Hi Rita,

I just tried a few of the Fonts reducing them to what you need. I guess it depends how fancy you want it.I tried the Waltz and then hit the 3D effect and it is almost un-readable. Even without the 3D I can hardly tell what it was. I think I liked the Nathaniel 3 D the best for what you need and I would use a satin stitch as well. It looked nice and you could tell what the initials were very well. I say if you have a few to try some of the fonts on,do so so you can see what they look like,or better yet if you have some fabric that is as close to what the final product is,take a piece of that to practice on first to pick out the one you like the best.Other than that I would likely use either Fluer OR theater, they both go into Alphabet Xpress as well and would look very nice in either 3D or without, especially on a cuff.

Good luck Rita, and I hope this has helped you in some way. If I can do anything for you at any time ,please feel free to let me know.  Wink

    Judy HELP!!!!!

Do you know how to edit text in Alphabet Xpress?  I have my design and it sews out beautifully but I put the wrong date on it.  Is there a way to edit the text or do I just have to start over?

I have the same question.  I have some Alphabet Express designs saved that I'd like to edit just a word or date, but can't do it.  Will watch for the answer to this question.

    Hello Marsha and Deb;

OK here's the word, the short answer is no, not that I can find any way. I tried several different ways to re-open it and cannot,so unless you can edit it at your machine then you will have to start over. Sorry! Sad Unless Ann knows of a way I have not found yet. I have had the same issue at times and have not been able to re-open it once it has been saved.

Re: Alphabet Express Fonts and Cuffs

In looking at the fonts that come with the software, both Nathaniel and Stonehouse list that they can be sewn as small as 0.3 inches, which fits the height requirement Rita is looking for.  We would strongly recommend though, Rita, that you do a test sew-out first before sewing anything on the garment.

If this does not resolve your issue, please feel free to send us an e-mail at support@annthegran.com. Our email support hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm Eastern Standard Time, and Saturdays 10am - 6pm.
