Brother PE-700/PE-700II Users

In the manual, there are instructions on how to do embroidery around applique designs. I still haven't been able to figure it out! Any suggestions?

Need to enter a space in text on PE-700ii

I am new to home machine embroidery, just got our first machine about 2 weeks ago.

I cannot figure out how to enter a space in my text that is in my machine. I am using a Brother PE 700ii.

Also, is there a way to enter multiple rows of text to embroider together instead of entering as individual lines?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Embroidering Names

Can anyone tell me a quick way to decide what size to make a name or any word for that matter when machine embroidering. Like right now I am making a tree skirt for my niece and she wants their names on it. There are three people in her family so I thought that I would put the names on the center three panels about 1 inch from the bottom. My largest frame is a 5 x 7.

I think I have finally found web site forum for me! I recently purchased a Brother PE70011, my first embroidery machine and had a great time stitching patterns. No not a great time, I have gotten in over my knowledge with projects.

I need help with hooping. I have viewed the videos but still am not confident I don’t know how tight to hoop certain materials.

I don’t know if my problems come from hooping or the stabilizers I should be using.

can any one tell me what to check my bobbin thread is bunching up I have changed the bobbin removed the plate and cleaned out I have re threaded the machine tried different settings for tension nothing seems to work dont know what to try next.

How do I get my FONTS TO FORMA WORD??? This is really frusturating as I am not that computor savvy. My daughters are and have tried there best to help to no avail ! I purchased a cd online with 40 different fonts but don't understand how to form a word...with the price you pay for these emb.machines you'd think that you wouldn't have to purchase several items to use with it......Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.................

wheel is hard to turn

I get an error message and the wheel is real hard to turn what can I check I re threaded it and checked the bobbin cant see anything wrong the wheel is hard to turn even with the bobbin case out. dont know what to check next.

Brother PE 700 II and downloading fonts on CD

Embroidering on "already hemmed" fleece

I have been asked to sew one line on fleece beanie caps (and head bands) that already have had a turned up hem put in. Has anyone ever tried doing this without taking out the hem, and if you have, what type of stablelizer did you use? These are selling for only $5 each, so using an expensive solution would not work. I though about taking hem out, but can't do it for that price, along with doing embroidery.

These are selling for the remaining high school football season, so I am trying to find an answer ASAP.

Needle Breaking

Today, in the span of about 20 minutes, I broke 3 needles. The first 2 I realized too late, they weren't tightened enough. The 3rd one is a mystery. I've looked at the troubleshooting and have done everything it says to do. I noticed there are now scratches on the throat plate from the needles breaking. Is this something a certified technician will have to fix? I'm afraid to use it in case I break any more needles and damage it further.

Ok, so I've used my machine exactly 4 times and I am already having some major technical difficulty!! First I had the upper thread get all "globbed up" under the fabric and in the bobbin case. Removed all of that, all of the stray pieces I could see, etc. Worked fine for a little while and then started getting the "safety feature activated" or whatever message on my screen. When I push the start button, the needle moves briefly, vibrates about 5 times, then beeps and the message comes up. Does anyone know what might be causing this? I'm hoping that it might be something really simple that I might could try myself without making a trip to the shop already for repairs. SOOOO totally frustrating to be in the middle of the project and this happens!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!

Monogramming

I just got my PE700II last week and I'm loving it. I do, however, have a question that I can't seem to get answered by reading the manual. I want to do monogramming (three letters w/ the middle letter larger) and can't figure out how to make a middle letter a different size. Also, if I use a font that I downloaded and brought over from my computer, it saves it as one letter at a time and then I can resize the letters but can't get them lined up perfectly. Does that make any sense?

Dear anyone,

Well, all this time I thought I had to use Embroidery needles for my PE700ll Today I looked on the back of the needle package and it said these needles used for Metallic and something else. I also read somewhere you can use regular sewing needles and of course size according to what fabric. Is this true ? What type or kind of needles can be used for my machine ? Not thinking straight in Toledo

I know my instruction book on explaining things is not the best. I am having trouble trying to get my top and bottom tension to look like it is suppose to, I can't seem to get the upper tension just visable on the back side. I have started at 0 and gone up the numbers. It still doesn't look right. The book explains little of the upper tension and almost nothing of lower tension. Do you leave the bottom tension at the 4.0 ? Is the whole focus of the thread tension to make the bottom look right in the upper tension ? Yes I have read the troubleshooting in the back, and I have rechecked my steps but I still can't get the thread on the back to look correct. My thread keeps breaking as well. it sort of shredds and breaks. I use madira rayon 40 , or sulky 40 or madera polyester 40 . What am I doing wrong. How do I tell if my plate has a bur. I do change my needle. please someone give me some advise. I have had my machine not quite a year but I'm still learning what to do. Thank you

Correct wt for Brother PE700II bobbin thread

I have spent 1 1/2 days going through a lot frustration with bobbin issues. I read the manual over and over, called an authorized dealer and also the web site where I bought the machine, but NO ONE came right out and said "you must use 90 wt. thread in the bobbin, or you will not have a good result". I was finally able to get through to Brother International this afternoon, and that was finally said to me. I had just purchased 2 spools of bobbin thread from Maderia, plus colors to do designs on 9 different shirt colors for our school system - (80 shirts now and 20 more to come)! The profit from the job will be gone, due to having to purchase Brother bobbin thread and replace 4 of the shirts that I just can salvage. I caught the problem when I started on the dark colors with a lighter thread. Now that I have reiterrated what a lot of you have said, does anyone know the least expensive web site to purchase the correct thread? I found it for $12.99 a spool!! That is more than what I gave for the Maderia, but I guess there is no choice!

Thank you...........there was some comfort in knowing others had gone through this mess! I have had my machine for a year - 9 days before the warranty is up. I have been so pleased with it and hadn't used 90 wt. in the bobbin all that time, but my designs looked wonderful. Why the lettering looks so bad and the designs didn't, has me a bit confused; maybe because they are more intricate! Otherwise, I love the machine and am still in awe how it does what it does.

Lace Work

Do I have to change the sewing speed down for Lacework? I did, but it took a long time. That is ok, but if it can be done faster without messing it up, I would like that.

Love my 700II. Wish I could Monnogram with it, doing the large Initial in the center. But have not figured that out yet.

Upper Thread Tangling under fabric

Help

I have been using my machine for about 1 month. I keep running in to the same problem. I stich a design and everything is going well, but when I get to a color that overlaps or a small section (like eyes) then the thread breaks. I thought it was the tension too tight so next try I loosened the tension when I got to last color and the thread did not break, but it tangled under the fabric so much I am alittie scared to try again because I dont want to hurt the machine. Any Ideas?

i have the pe700 and I know you can embrodiery a letter but can you also insert the name smaller over the letter or do you need an additional program to do this if so what would that be. thanks just got my machine and would like to do some scarfs for christmas

Hi there! I'm another noob. I've had my PE-700II for a couple of months, and just LOVE it! I'm trying to start making multiple items, though, and I'm having a terrible time making anything lace-related....like bookmarks or snowflakes. The Sulky Solvy stablizer gets chewed up, and tears, and I'm starting to go a little crazy about it. [:'(] Any ideas out there??

OK, so I've had this thing for about 4 months now sitting in my floor. Haven't turned it on yet b/c A) I have 3 kids at home all the time, and B) I'M SCARED OF IT!!!!!!! Today I finally turned it on, connected it to my laptop, and successfully sent a pes. format design to the machine. However, I expected to be able to see the design on my computer. Thought that was the whole point of the 700ii. I have no idea how you would know what color order the design would be sewn, etc. Obviously I am a beginner, as I don't understand a lot of this yet. Do I need software to be able to see the designs, change the size, etc.? I have several styles of alphabets saved as pes. files w/each letter saved as an individual file. I want to combine them to sew names, monograms, etc. I know this is supposed to be a really easy machine to use, however I feel like I am missing a huge piece of the puzzle still......Thanks so much for helping!!!!!

I got my replacement machine a week ago and have been having no end of fun and got quite a number of orders!!!!

I've only done bibs initially and have JUSt moved onto babygrows and flannels!
