    Illinois Sewing groups

I am interested in learning about sewing, machine embroidery and/or knitting/crocheting, or other types of crafts groups near my home.  I live in Wauconda, Illinois.  Marie

I'm so happy to see this thread on here! I am from Central Florida, and we just had a luncheon yesterday, in Orlando, for the Central Florida Group of machine embroiderers! We had the most fantastic time together! I was going to put out a message encouraging everyone who loves to do this to get together! You would not believe the beauty, and awesome amount of talent that we saw, all in one room! This is a really cool way to make friends, too! Glad to see you all beginning to do this!!!!! Good luck!!! And have lots and lots of fun!!!! It really is worth every second of your time!

    Take care, and stay safe!!!

You can see pics of our luncheon on the Central Florida Embroiderers page, under Media!

    Hello Mari,

If I'm not mistaken Elgin is not too far from St. Charles.  I've attended classes for frame knitting (knitting machine) in St. Charles at the Fine Line Creative Arts Center.  They have so many interesting programs there, but it is an hours drive from where I live.  When I attended a three day class with my sister, we stayed with her son who lives in Algonquin.  Have you ever been to the Fine Line Creative Arts Center?

Thanks Dawn! I am glad to see you are singing the praises of the Central Florida Group! As Dawn said,we all encourage everyone that is on the ATG site to send out some feelers and find those within your own areas. We had way too much fun at our luncheon ! The lovely items everyone brought to share made me cry, everything was so beautiful, and the people fantastic and fun! If you get the chance, come in and check us out,We are the first ones in a new area on the ATG site called Groups! Dawn is correct,it is worth every second you spend making new friends, the best part is when you finally get to meet them!

    Have a blast!Big Smile

Enjoy the time you spend together!

Forgive my ignorance, but what does ATG stand for?

    Marie,

The only silly question is the one that is never asked. Please never feel that way.We all use letters instead or full words sometimes to shorten our answers or questions a bit. ATG stands for Ann The Gran.I had to learn all of this abbreviation as well,so please don't feel that way. We all had to at some point in our lives. I hope this helps,Marie. If I can help in any way please feel free to ask.Smile

    Sincerely,

    Judy

I know how you feel.  I went the longest time thinking 'lol' meant 'lots of love'; I finally figured out it must mean 'laughing out loud'.  I wonder if there is a web abbreviation dictionary somewhere?

Judy, do you know of one?  It's kind of embarrassing when you have to get your granddaughter to translate for you.   Sometimes it amazes me how much she knows at the ripe old age of eleven!
