How many live near Augusta Georgia?

O.K.  As much as I love all you central Florida folks, it's no fair that you get to have all the fun, so I'm lookin' for some of you red clay Georgia girls to play and chat with, too. (I say too, because I can't bear not continuing the chats with the Florida gals, ya'll are so much fun.)  Is there anyone around this area?  Let's hear from you.  I'm sure we have some fascinating embroidery tales to tell, some adorable pets, and incredible grandkids.   While BB is putting pins in his map, lets really crowd it up in east central GA.

    Linda

p.s.  I live in Burke county about four miles from plant Vogtle, out here with the rattlesnakes and cows and cotton fields.

    Hi Patsy,

I've been through Bloomingdale a number of times.  I looked to see if you had a bio,  Do you have children, grandchildren, a husband, dogs, cats....I'm so excited about having someone close (at least closer than six hours, anyway).  Do you do machine embroidery?  Right now my husband is doing plumbing and I can't even get to my machines and I'm about to go nuts. I have a Viking D-1 and SE.  I just got the SE and haven''t really gotten use to it yet, so far I prefer the D-1, but that's probably because I haven't learned the new one yet.  I'm hoping the SE won't be quite as tempermental as the D-1.

Write again and tell me (us) more about yourself.  This is a great site; there are people as far away as Australia and England to talk to..

Looking forward to hearing from you,

    Linda

This is jack rabbit/   I live in Zebulon, (our planet Zebulon as my son says) 45 minutes south Atlanta and 45 minutes north Macon

I am interested in the best software for the $$ to digitize.  It needs to be compatible with all embroidery machines in case I upgrade of change machine companies.

Hi, I am in SW Georgia in a small, very small town called Cedar Springs.  I hope this is the right place to post this, being that I am way over in the SW corner of the state.  Please let me know.  I have had my machine science November.  I feel like I have found my calling in life, I love it.  I have tried every craft out there from sewing to cross stitch. I am hooked.  I also hope to chat with others in my small corner of the world and in our great state of Georgia.

I have both PE6 (Brother software) and 3D (Husqvarna Viking).  I like them both but prefer the 3D.  Both open designs in most other formats, the 3D will save in most formats.  PE6 is vector based and 3D is bitmap.  I've looked at others and would love to get Wilcom's, but the prices are way out of my range.  Maybe someone out there has some others they'd recommend???? I've started another thread that we can check on.

Do you welcome guys to your group?  My wife and I have had our 12/1 machine for 2 years and I'm still learning how to drive it.  I must admit it is a lot of fun and I enjoy it, especially watching a design materialize on a work piece.  My wife does a lot of hand cross stitching and leaves the embroidery machine to me.  We live in Tifton and would love to get to meet and get to know other embroiderers in the area.  Right now our business is part-time because I have another full-time job.  I hope to develope the embroidery business into full-time down the road.

    Thanks,

    Blueboy

    Linda,

I live in Evans, so not that far from you.  Would love to share stories with you.  I just bought my first machin in march, so I am truly a newbie.

I know I emailed you earlier, but it didn't show up in the thread.  I finished high school in Donaldsonville not far from you.  Daddy was a contractor in the paper mill.  Welcome to the site.  You'll find loads of good information and fun chatter here.

Welcome to all of you Georgia folks!  I'm getting excited; keep coming back to this thread and maybe someone will show up close enough to visit with.  Maybe we can one day get a meeting together like the Florida group (when gas prices go down, if they ever do).  I've emailed some of you but they didn't show up in the threads; I must have done something wrong; a computer guru I'm not.

Blueboy, yes we welcome men here.  Beemish Boy will probably enjoy the company; I'm sure he gets lonesome among all these women! Ha!

Melody, did you get your machine at Jeff's or at Branhum's?  I got both mine from Jeff's.  He's terrific and the service and training are awesome.  Maybe we can get together for lunch one day?!

Jackrabbit, there's a thread started on digitizing software.  Hopefully all those digitizers out there will tell us how they like theirs, so we can decide what would be best to get.  I'd love to get Wilcom's, but no way can I afford it.

    Dottie,

Athens is about a two hour drive from Augusta.  A pretty good ways, but close enough so maybe one day we can get a group together.  Do you ever get over to Augusta?

    Linda,

I got it at Jeff's, Love that place.  Did you go to the class they had in March with the rep from Dakota, it was great.  I was not even thinking of buying a machine then one afternoon my dad called and said for me to go look at them, after I did, he went and bought it for me. Now the story gets sad.  That was the first of March, my dad had been sick so he asked if I would bring the machine to him so he could " play" with it.  I did and he put something on every thing my mom owns.  Unfortunately dad didn't get better and passed away on May 19th.  But those hours he and I spent working on designs and talking about what to do next will be some of my favorite memories, so I will continue to sew in his memory.  Sorry for the sadness.

I would love to go to lunch one day.    My mom grew up in Midville and her older brother lived in Waynesboro, he worked at the John Deere place.

    Well, enough for now.

    Take care'

    Happy Stitches!!!!

Re: How many live near Augusta Georgia?

Melody, I was in Jeff's today.  We don't go in to Augusta much since gas has gotten so high, but I needed some things plus I had one friend that needed verigated thread and couldn't go because of work and another that needed supplies for a mission trip to Virginia, so Tommy and I made a day of it.   Jeff's was packed!  Kids club on one side and a ladies sewing class on the other.  I refused to even look at the new SE.   I just a few months ago bought the floor model of the old one.  I love it, and he, as always, gave me a good deal on it, but I knew if I even looked at the new one, I'd start the drooling and dreaming thing and I at least want to get good on what I have before I start saving for another one.  Who am I kidding?   It'd take me a hundred years to save enough at $5.00 a month to buy the new SE!!!!   I just finished another baby quilt and posted pictures.  Now a lady who was at the shower wants one for her grandbaby so I'll be busy again.  I just love doing quilts!! and it will keep my mind from dwelling on the fact that one of my dearest friends went home to be with the Lord this past week.  She has been suffering for months with colon cancer so we can't really be sad.  I'm going to miss her lots.

Write me back and tell me what you've been up to with your embroidery.  What kind of machine did you buy?  I have both a D-1 and an SE.  I was planning to sell the D-1, but it's so nice to keep it set up for regular sewing while I'm embroidering on the new one that I haven't been able to let it go just yet.  I think I'll wait until I'm desperate for a tank of gas!

    Signing off for now

    Linda
