    Where do you store everything?

    HH Everyone!

This question goes with my new blog post.

Judy has provided some great pictures of a place to store all her ME stuff. Just wondering how the rest of you organize your sewing space. Pictures would be great if you have them, but just some thoughts would be fine too!

Re: Where do you store everything?

When we bought our new home we had the builder split the downstairs family room with a wall. My husbands work shop on one side and my craft room on the other. My husband was a gem and put nice oak cabinets across one wall and another set underneath with a nice size tabletop. This gives me lots of cabinet space and draws to put all my "stuff" in.  I have stackable plastic draws that I got in Target and Walmart that I lined up across the back of my table to put all those things that you want right within reach while working on the table.

I have all my designs printed out and in page protectors and put in binders, organized with dividers for catagories. I splurged and got the big Maderia thread boxes in the rayon and poly. I have them stacked on top of each other right next to my machine. I picked up some under the bed storage clear zippered bags and have my blanks stored under my embroidery machine table. They are already prewashed and ironed so when I am ready to do a project I just take one out and start embroidering.

Although I have all this cabinet space it just like a kitchen, there is never enough. I don't have a blog or website so I can't show any pictures. I thought I would share how my sewing space is organized.

Do you have digital pictures you could upload here on the Annthegran website?  Would love to see how your work space is organized.  Some of the other ladies have posted pix of their workspaces and I am creating a "honey do" list for my husband that should keep him busy way up into the next decade!  lol

    Rita,

I just took a few pics. As soon as I figure out how to insert them I will gladly post them. I get all the uploading part. I am just getting a message that says "This photo cannot be uploaded due to the image quota applied to this gallery". Is the gallery full or am I not downsizing to the proper size... I will figure it out......

Hello, My husband as an anniversary surprise had a 16 x32 wooden storage shed assembled on a concrete slab in our yard. He had it wired for electricity and had a heater that runs on propane installed. He paneled the inside and had it carpeted, then cable TV and a phone. Shelvesline all the walls except for the ones with windows.  I have all my fabric, embroidery machines and a large cutting table. It really was less expensive then even remolding a room in our home. I live in the northern U.S. and have been very toasty in my little bit of  sewing heaven   Good Luck Sue

Ok Rita, The other day I tried to upload my pictures and it did not work. Today it worked!  As you can see the grandchildrens toys are getting pushed further and further to the other side of the room. Here they are:

Pictures are great.  Just added a couple of things to  my "honey do" list.  Poor Harry.  :)  To encourage him to get busy on that list, I have (literally) piled all my embroidery "stuff" on a small sewing machine case in his office.  lol  Just in case any of y'all think I'm exaggerating, I'll have Harry take a pic or two and upload them if he has time today.

What size is the table, Nancy, and where did you get it?  Hubby suggested I would be happier with a table similar to that rather than the table I already have.

    Sue,

What a great anniversary gift, what a great husband! What is even greater is that your husband, like mine, supports your interests 100%.

Your little bit of heaven sound wonderful. You have to post a picture..

    Rita,

We picked up those tables at BJ's or Costco years ago. They are banquet tables and are made out of hardwood with a lamination top and edge. The one with my machine on it is 62" x 30". The other is 72" x 30". My husband took off the legs on that one and used it to top my cabinets. The cabinets we got at Home Depot. I have not seen the tables lately, they have since gone to plastic. Just a thought..... my son made a work table out of a door slab from Home Depot, and my husbands counters in his shop are made from plywood with a few coats of varnish applied.

WOW! You have so much space! My sewing room is 9ft.x9ft. It has a sewing machine cabinet with one machine inside and one on top. A drop leaf cutting out table 2'x3.3" . A floor to ceiling bookcase, tailors dummy, overlocker (under the cutting out table, an office chair, a filing cabinet full of patterns, a long low drawer unit under the window stores all the habidashery and the boiler in the corner keeps me warm or baking depwnding on the season. All of my fabric stash is stored where ever I can find room in the house.  One advantage is that I just have to turn in my chair to reach anything in the room. Oh! I forgot the knitting machine behind the door!.
