Hey Gals,

Didn't mean to come off sounding like I was being harsh on all of you that didn't like living in FL.  I just wanted you all to remember to appreciate what you HAVE RIGHT NOW, RIGHT THIS MINUTE, including 22 new friends.  I am a transplant but I have been back and forth from Mich so many times I consider myself a Floridian vs a Michigander, lived here more than up north.  I'm actually a Fresh Water Conch if you want to get technical.  I was just a gleam in my daddy's eye when Ann and Elaine moved here BUT I've spent over 1/2 my life here.

I use to be married to a Sheriff Deputy in the Keys, that's how I became a FW Conch. I had lived there over 7 years.  That's when they wanted to become the Conch Republic.  I was also the "old one" on the block when it came to new wives coming down from upnorth "hating" FL, and I gave them the same old speech I gave all of you... also said, "hey, you can do whatever you want when he's working midnights, have your own girls night out, run the vaccum at midnight, eat chocolate for breaskfast and breakfast for dinner."  It saved a few marriages and let the guys do their job without worrying that their wives were going to leave them.  (Not that any of you would leave your spouses just because you hate living here)

I think a lot of the reason behind not liking it here IS because we don't have the friends like we thought we had up north but Ann hit it on the head. We've chosen to take up a very solitary hobby UNTIL we bust out and gather together and I think we should do it more just to keep all of your spirits up and your creative juices flowing. Oct meeting sounds great to me like Norie suggested. AND...I live in a MH/RV Park that has a fairly large club house with lots of tables, Mark has park models that he rents out, not sure how many people could be crammed into one of those little things but it's an option as long as it wasn't during the "season"(and the A/C is fixed in the Club House by then).  We could do a retreat here as well, I can check on some prices if Ann want's to check into the Christian Conference Center. What do you say girls??

Well I'm off to help a friend sew sew sew... Hope you are all inspired to get MORE things done for show and tell.

Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold onto it by worrying about it.  Instead, focus on all the wonderful things that are present in your life now.

If you find yourself stuck in traffic, don't despair. There are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard of privilege.

Should you have a bad day at work; think of the man who has been out of work for years.

Should you despair over a relationship gone bad; think of the person who has never known what it's like to love and be loved in return.

Should you grieve the passing of another weekend; think of the woman in dire straits, working twelve hours a day, seven days a week to feed her children.

Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from assistance; think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk.

Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror; think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had hair to examine.

Should you find yourself at a loss and pondering what is life all about, asking what is my purpose? Be thankful. There are those who didn't live long enough to get the opportunity.

Should you find yourself the victim of other people's bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities; remember, things could be worse. You could be one of them!

Should you decide to send this to a friend; Thank you. You may have touched their life in ways you will never know!  Now, you have a nice day.

Thanks for posting that. I really needed to hear some of it. I was not able to make the get together on Saturday. It looks like I missed a really good time. Maybe a get together over here in the Tampa Bay Area can be planned in the future.

thanks ann, I am sure it does have to do with where people are in their lives.  We have a lot of people here from up north, some are full time and some are snowbirds.  They love it here and want to move here and the first thing they want to do is change everything, go figure.  We survived in all the places we lived by having a few close friends that we like family.  the reason we moved her to Hernando, is the couple we met in Istanbul in 1976 have moved to the same states as us and our kids have grown up together.  You have to bloom where you are planted.  I guess I have to get off the computer, mother nature is making big boomers an d lightening and I need to see if the I left the me machine plugged in.  Do you have any suggestions about power cords and such?  take care, you are a doll, we loved having you as part of our group, especially since we are using your knowledge and blogs.

Thanks Kath.  Just like I remembered.. LOL  I have another pattern too I got through the mail and I'm sure that's where the Wee Care pattern is.  It is all one piece with long sleeves etc.  I'm still in hopes of it surfacing before long..
