In addition to the Roomba there's one to mop floor  " Scoomba" or something like that  a bit expensive, but gives ya more sew/embroidery time. :-)

Pat, some computer info would probably help us all.  I've learned most of what I know trial & error....I don't  know much & sometimes forget what I just did to make whatever work ,but I'm afraid that if I took an actual class in computers now I'd probably be bored....besides I'm guessing that I 've got bad habits & don't do as I should.......I'm the same way w/ typing,.....I taught myself my bad habits. LOL

Judy, I live & belong to a sewing group here in Ohio & we get together every year & stay @ an Amish Inn where we take over their conference room w/ our sewing & sew for 4 days/nights  Its wonderful!  A lot of places will give better rates if you're a group.  Just something for you to think about as you get together.

Big SmileBig Smile Well,My goodness,I am overwhelmed at the response we have gotten here! First I would like to welcome everyone that is new to the blog and forums ! Congradulations...You have hit pay dirt here. I love to see friendly, happy people ! Big Smile

You all are making me hungry for seafood and hush puppies ! If we can pull this off then that will be the place. I will call Ann today, and we will see how everything comes together. We will sure let everyone know, where, when, ect.

I also love discovering that there are so many ME'ers so close to me ! I drive in to Venice quite a bit,so it would be great to get together for coffee Coffeewith all of you in that area. I understand what some of you are going through not knowing anyone in your area that does any kind of sewing. Sadly Sadit is becoming a lost skill and art. So we need to get together and show folks how Great a bunch we are ,and get them excited as well about ME ! Where I am at ,we are lucky to have a pretty good repair guy here, but that is it ! I have often wondered how a sewing shop would go over in this area,my guess is likely pretty good being an over 55 community. We really have nothing near us at all. It would be so much fun if we did!Big Smile

I am so excited about meeting all of you ! Some of you I met at the Community Circle,so it will be wonderful to see you again ! If some of you can't make this one, don't fret as I am hoping we can do this a little bit more often, even if we just get together with the people in our area. Some one mentioned a west coast chapter..........That would be the bestest !!!Big Smile

As soon as we get a place, and date we will let everyone know..............Again Welcome everyone ! I can't wait to meet each and every one of you !Wink

I hope you will check out my blog called, "Stitchin' Shortcuts!",  for shortcuts, tips and tricks of sewing. Thanks to all for the warm welcome to the blogging world! I love to sew and embroider and just plain have fun! Come into the new "Groups" section and say "Hello" to all the folks in Central Florida! They are a friendly group!

    Judy

Help me to start each day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude!

Re: How many live in Central Florida?

Smile I just checked on line with Dixie Crossroads, they welcome groups of 20 or more and have a very nice group menu,or menu's. they have a $12.00 one that does not include any seafood.a $15.99 one that has 12 shrimp and I didn't look at the $ 22.99 one................or everyone can order off the menu.............all of the group menu's include a garden salad, baked potato, corn fritters, plus desert and your choice of coffee, tea or soft drink. The $15.99 one had a choice of one entrée' of shrimp, tilapia, petite prime rib or chicken ***.

They also suggested that one person collect and pay for the group,I am assuming that is to help ease the burden of 50 of us all trying to check out at the same time. That could be interesting !

So that is the word on the Dixie Crossroads,They also have one on International Drive, which is not far off the freeway and fairly easy to get to,Most of you that attended the Community Circle know where it is.

Let's see a show of hands to see how many agree with the place? ! Looks like a lot of us can car pool as well ,which makes it better yet! I have room for 3 comfortably and four not so comfortably,lol/(I have a pt cruiser) and a gps! All you folks from Venice,Nokomis area,we can all get our heads together on carpooling to  make sure everyone that wants to go ,can go.

Remember too, that this is an informal get together to talk about anything(well almost anything) ,answer some questions, talk about what we are doing and getting to know one another.I would still also like to see everyone that can, bring whatever you are working on so we can see it. We all love new idea's for ME !

     Hi Judy,

I am not in Florida (Titusville) right now, I am in Maine - but would love to see another one of these gatherings arranged for when I might be there.  I only come down to our home there around April and November.  Usually for 6 weeks or so at a time and would love to meet with some of you gals then.  I was fortunate enough to be there for the Community Circle and absolutely had a great time. Keep up the good work on arranging this gathering and maybe we can plan one a little later on too!
    Thanks, Linda

Re: How many live in Central Florida?

Okay, I know I live in Orlando and it would be the most convenient for me Big Smile but I think the Dixie Crossroads in Orlando would be more central for everyone. It's easily accessible from the Beeline (now the Beach Line, I think) for those driving in from the East coast and from I-4 for those driving in from the West coast. And, it's a quick skip to the movie theater for those of us who want to, but haven't yet, see Sex and the City. (ME! ME!)  And the outlet malls for those who still don't have enough shoes. (ME! ME!) I'm in town until the end of November so any time is okay for me. I do have 3 of our grandchildren who will be staying with us for a week or so but I don't know when. In any case, their Poppie can entertain them for a few hours.

I do think that if we're going to be doing this we need to make some decisions at this first meeting, so it would be good if everyone who can possibly make it would come.

So, Judy, you're still in charge. Tell me when and where and I'll be there. Even if it's not in Orlando.

Re: How many live in Central Florida?

I was thinking either the 19th or the 26th of July, they are both Saturdays . I picked a Saturday as I know some of you work,so in order for it to be feasible for everyone to get there a Saturday is the more likely candidate. Either date is good for me,I'm retired so my calendar just happens to be quite empty. In August we have relatives coming in from out of town, so to say the least I will be tied up for at least two weeks there.( I heard rumors that I am going to be treated to driving a car at Daytona) Not missing that one!Did someone say,"Shoes?"

I agree with Ann that we need to make some decisions and soon,I also agree that the Dixie Crossroads is the best central location. It is easily accessible for everyone, and about the same driving distance for most.We need your input!! So we know how to proceed, head count.Remember this is all about you all and the wonderful world of ME,friends old and new,and most of all FUN !

Pick a date and LETS DO THIS !!!! (can you all tell I am just a little bit excited?Big SmileParadise

Those are the ones that I have right now.  The two 50's Singer machines actually belong to my daughters, but neither one is interested in sewing right now, so I call them mine. Big Smile

Just got an email from Dixie Crossroads and the one in Orlando closed up in December.  It was owned by different people anyway, not the same as Titusville.
