Actually, before I turned 72 and became mostly retired, I worked as a professional drapery seamstress for designers. In a northern more rural area I had to learn to keep my machines, including industrial in good working order. I also worked for a Bernina dealer who was here for about 2 or 3 years selling and servicing machines. (just mechanical cleanings and tune-ups) I had the opportunity to rescue machines that were non-functioning; quite rewarding. So I am not exactly inexperienced with machines. When I was selling and taking machines in on trade I found that the sewing machine business seem very much like the used car business. There are price and trade-in value books. I learned a lot about pricing.
Strange about this dealership, because they have an excellent rating with BBB. But it seems they are most interested in making sales and not the follow up. I feel the lack of communication has been very discourteous.
I will take your suggestion and start contacting Brother again. I talked with one person some time ago and he asked if they had given me a price, or even the part number, because he could have checked for me with the Brother Parts Department. They hadn't given me that information so that's why I was trying to find out. I would like to know if the part was really ordered. I am going to ask for the owner or Manager and find out if they can fix it or not. I could contact another dealer within my own state.
I have no choice but to have this machine repaired so I can possibly sell it or trade it in. I have hundreds of designs on my computer, all in PES format, so I would probably have to go to BabyLock too. It would be a pain to covert all those designs. Then too, I wouldn't want to spend the thousands that it would take to have a Bernina even though they are supposed to be the best.
I have checked out the Ellure. I would like at least a 5x7 field. I would prefer an embroidery only machine, but they are more difficult to find. The dealer I used to work for is in a larger town about 80 miles away and also sells BabyLock. His past servicing wasn't the greatest, but may have improved now.
This is so unfortunate, because with Brother you get more features for your dollar. You just have to be sure you have a good dealership nearby. I made the purchase online because I had such a good experience with my Simplicity machine and almost never have a machine break down. Well, live and learn they say!
Thank you for listening.and for the good advice. My husband passed away almost a year ago, so I have been fuming about this all by myself!! I am so glad I reconnected with AnnThe Gran!
Blessings!
