Help, please - rib knit beanie hats

    Hi -

My son's soccer team just advanced to the state 'final four' and the boosters handed out knit acrylic beanie hats to all the players. My son would like me to embroider the players' numbers on them so they aren't identical. I need to figure out how to do this in a day (they play again on Tuesday).

Does anyone have any experience working on acrylic knit? It is a fine gauge rib knit, very stretchy.

Do you have any recommendations for needle/topping/backing?

    TIA!!!

    - Linda

    p.s. I have a Brother PE-700II

I would purchase a hat that is similar in knit and use it as a testing sample.

You would need to use cut-away stabilizer and a wash-away topper.

Here is a truorial for sweater knit that may help - http://www.emblibrary.com/EL/elprojects/SimpleProduct_ELP.aspx?CS_ProductID=PR1466&CS_Catalog=Elprojects
