    stabilizer

I ordered the tear away light stabilizer I am usining it on the verse quilt and it is not tearing away as I hoped it would. I am using muslin. Could it be because of the tiny print or something else? I have not tried it on anything else yet. I am some what disappointed. Any tips?

I am still using the stabilizer. It is not tearing away very easy. Could that roll have been miss labeled? I am having to cut most of it away. I am not trying to be a problem, just  wanted to know.

I love to sew and embroidery  and I really like your website.

    Thank you and happy sewing

    Hi, Mary Jane,

Certainly it is possible that a mistake was made, in which case we would of course make it right, but maybe we can just clarify how you're using it to make sure we understand your situation, as most tear away light stabilizers are very easy to remove, except inside of small lettering.

Are you using any adhesive or just hooping it with the fabric? Spray adhesive can make it hard to remove.

    Re: stabilizer

Thank you for your reply. I am using unbleaced muslin, your light stabilizer, nothing esle. I understand that the small lettering would and is hard to tear away, but for the rest of the design, most of it has to be cut away or else it will pull too much and still doesn''t tear away..Since  my last post, I have used it on various things and it still does't tear away. Most
    has to be cut away.
I have used other brands that I bought at Hancocks and it tears beautiful, with ease. I don't remember the brands.  Please don't think that I am being a problem, that is not my intention at all. I use your website nearly everyday and love it. I have used many of your free designs and love them, so I desided to become a member and order products from you. When I say that big roll, I said wow, let me order it.

I have finished my verse quilt, and will start on something esle to see how it will work on another type of fabric, but that should not matter. Thank you again for your time.

    Re: stabilizer

You're right, Mary Jane. We are going to send you a complimentary roll of washaway mesh, as it would work well  for the type of project you are doing.

Also, we are going to contact you privately by e-mail and ask you to send us a sample of the defective product, as we want to make sure the quality issue was an isolated incident. One of my Support people will contact you shortly.

    Ann,
Have you had a chance to ship the wash a way.? The only reason I am asking is that I am watching the mail very carefully. When something is left on my porch, the neighbors dogs drags it into the yard and I don't want that to happen again.I have been reading about the wash-a-way, but I have never used it. I shipped the sample that you ask you. I hope everything is ok.

    Re: stabilizer

Stabilizer has to be among the most difficult to understand parts of ME (machine embroidery).  Everyone has a question about it from time to time.

Another thought about the stabilizer might be that you used 'cut away' thinking that it was 'tear away.'  I had a project for 15 tote bags with small lettering and had the same problem.  Since I like to have the design back look nearly as well as the front, I plugged away at all of those 'a' and 'e' with the tip of a very small pair of embroidery scissors.

Please check out my new Blog, here at Annthegran, called "The Avid Embroiderer."  I will be discussing issues and resolutions for stabilizers soon because it is one of the biggest stumbling blocks for perfect embroidery.

Best wishes to you and yours, Pat

    Re: stabilizer

I discovered something else about 'tear away' stabilizer.  The one I used only tore left to right (or up to down if I hooped it crosswise).  See if that is the case.

My new Blog, which will be posted on or about May 25 will be about stabilizers and all the factors I have learned over the years.

    Pat:

I cannot wait for your newest blog.  I have read every word you have typed so far and I'm sure your latest about stabilizer will be most helpful.

At this point I have at least learned enough to be able to ask half way intelligent questions (she said confidently) rather than not even knowing how to word a question to solve whatever problem I'm having.  But you're right.  Stabilizer is an issue.

I've met a wonderful ME person in Trussville, AL.  Carol Wright owns the place, and she gives lessons ($35 an hour) and has told me to call her if I encounter a problem and she'll try to help me resolve it over the phone or will ask me to bring in the project and let her take a look at it.  I'm amazed and encouraged by people like her and you who so willingly share your knowledge and experience.  Thanks so much.

    Rita
