3D Embroidery Studio - multi designs to disk

My question is:  How do I put multipul (SHV) designs onto floppy disk?  I know there is a way.  I know I have done it before I just can't seem to figure it out, and remember the steps.

So my designs are saved in my computer as hus format.  Then I need to convert to (SHV) so my Designer 1 can read it.  But I would like to put more than one converted design (SHV) on the disk at a time.  Say for instance to do several different; monograms on multipule items or say 20 differnt kitchen towels with each a differnt design.

I realize I can do it individually but it would save me loads of time.  I hope someone out there can help me.  Thanks in advance.  Sara Perkins

    Interesting question. . .

I am unfamiliar with that program, but perhaps someone can help you.

Can't this be done with Catalog Xpress?  Open the catalog, select the designs and send all to the drive/floppy.

I finally figured it out!   In case anyone comes across this and needs to know I am posting.

This is for 3D Embroidery Studio / Viking husvarna  - The way to send multiple designs to disk is to us the "disk manger"  Mine I found on my hard drive.  Once the disk manager is opened you may click on edit, and then preferences to select home many designs you would like to put on one disk.  Then click file and open and find your files that you have previously designed or saved to go on to the disk.  Then When done I think the command was copy to disk and all the designs that you had on  your screen will now be on disk.  This took me 2 days to figure out because for some reason my "disk manager: did not come up as a possible icon when I opened my 3D.  I have since clicked and dragged that icon on to my desktop screen and into my 3D screen so I don't forget about it.  Sara Perkins

Good afternoon from Texas.   I just read your blog and it gave me hope!  I just bought a Pfaff 2170.  Do you have any experience downloading to a Pfaff?

I am sorry to say I don't have any experience downloading to a Pfaff.  I have been lead to believe that Pfaff's software and Vikings software are basically the same...so it is possible I may be able to help you in some way.  My machine is a Viking designer 1 which was the top of the line several years ago.  Mine does not hook directly up to the computer...so I transport my designs thru my 3D onto 3 1/2" floppy then to my machine.

If you have a specific question I may be able to tell you how I send to my disk and it may be similar buttons, menu etc to at least get you on the trail to send to your machine.  sara

Re: 3D Embroidery Studio - multi designs to disk

Congratulations on that machine!  Welcome to the wonderful world of Machine Embroidery (ME) and AnnTheGran (ATG).  We all love to talk embroidery here!  This Forum is full of great information, read as much as you are able to do and enjoy your new craft.

Your dealership should be able to answer that question for you.  Most, not all, but most machines need a program that is usually purchased separately from the machine to deal with designs.  There is much to learn and we have all been where you are at.

May I invite you to read my Forum post about a first project on a PE700, but the instructions apply to anyone using a machine for the first time.  I hope you take the time to read it.

Ask a lot of questions, you will find some very knowledgeable people here at ATG!

It appears the 2170 uses memory cards.

To use designs downloaded from the Internet or from a CD, you would need a reader/writer unit and card in the format for your machine, check the user's manual for the embroidery format.

The reader and card - http://www.allbrands.com/products/abp13266-0165.html  or

It is always best to learn the ins and outs of the machine before buying additional software.  Go page, by page as you test the machine.

    Sara,

You will have to copy the designs to the floppy using disk manager.  Open 3D embroidery, and then open Disk manager.  Insert the disk that you want to write to and click on the read disk icon.  If you do not read the disk first, all the designs on the disk will be lost.  Open the design in 3D Embroidery that you want to save.  Click copy.  Go to Disk Manager and paste the design.  You can then go back and copy and paste more designs.  When you have finished copying all the designs then you will write to disk.

    Sara,

I use 3D for my Pfaff.  I save my designs in PES so that I can also use it in my Brother.  On my computer I select the designs I want and then copy them to a CD.  If you use a CD-RW, you can add to it again and again.  You can also save them to a USB flash drive if you can use that in your sewing machine.
