Use External Floppy Disk Drive On Laptop With Embird Software?

Anyone out there know about this?  I have to use an external floppy drive with my laptop if I want to save anything to a floppy.  I know very little about Embird but it appears so much more affordable than the Viking 4d (I'm unemployed).  I own a Designer 1 with floppy drive.  If I install Embird on my laptop and save the embroidery designs on to the external floppy (as opposed to an internal), witll the designs actually save correctly in order to be used in my D1?

Just think of your exernal as another hard drive in your computer. I works just the same way.  As with any hard drive tho, make sure to back up those files to some other place or thing.  Personally I don't like using CD's or DVD's, they just are not lasting long enough. So, use a second exteral if you don't have room on your laptop or use an online storage. I'm finding the floppys not as well made as they used to be also.   And yes, Embird is a very cost effective product.  There is the basic module that is the viewing and editing one, then you can add as you desire the other modules. I have the font engine and love it. There is also the digitizing module.  Also there is so much help avail for the program. Whole yahoo groups and all kinds of both free and paid for lessons.  I've been really happy with the upgrading also. They do upgrades for a year or two for free, then the major upgrade is only $15. Not bad.

Whow, wait a min, I misunderstood. You want to save all your designs to a floppy. You can do that, however, the floppies I have purchased recently are not well made and do not hold up, so please do back up your designs.  External HD's are coming down very low in price, and you would only need a small one for designs. That's how I use my laptop when we travel. Just programs inside and all my other files are on a portable external.  Embird will give you the ability to change the file ext on your designs if you happen to get some that aren't avail in your machines preference as well as make lots of other changes.

YES!!!!!I have a designer  1. also and use a external floppy to copy my designs I download them onto a portable harddrive and then copy the designs onto a disk for the machine. make sure you use the correct format for your machine. I don't even use my main computer for this anymore.
