Please help me to find it. Where is the "update shop" in your blog or in AnnTheGran?

    Thanks

Hello Nelly, you can find it in my signature line, but I will also include it here:  http://www.annthegran.com/cs/forums/p/335/1213.aspx#1213

I appreciate all sales because I am retired and those sales really do help me a lot!  Thank you for your consideration.

If you like, you can click on this link which takes you to a blog for which I do get a small 'click per view.'  http://www.ehow.com/how_5111708_dispose-old-pc.html  which is information on how to dispose of an old computer.  I also have a link: http://www.ehow.com/how_5126144_embroidery-hemmed-walking-shorts.html which is my blog post for hemming walking shorts in embroidery.

Despite this being a shamelessly promo of me, I do try to give hints and tips in my blogs to help each user, new or experienced.

    Hi Pat,

I don't think you should use ATG site to promote another site that you get paid for.  I am sure a bunch of us are in the same position as you but we really don't want to hear about it.

When I first joined it was nothing to have 25 e-mails a day from this site.  We had a bunch of people on it and we really had some fun.  Now I am lucky if I get 5 a week and most of them are either from you or about you.  Whatever happened to all the other guys and gals that used to be on here?

To everyone - sorry you are not getting many e-mails.

I never think to check my inbox.

If it weren't for Pat, there wouldn't be much to read, just questions and answers.

If you click on Pat's link, you will see it was blessed by Greg.

A disclaimer was given regarding the other two links.

If you have tutorials or projects you would like to share, I am sure they would be considered for posting.

There are many links to other sites that can be accessed by clicking on Links at the bottom right of any ATG screen, but many individuals seem to overlook the row of "extras".

    Hi,

What I am saying that this site was busy, helpful and fun. I don't know what happened but very few people are on it any more.   Seems like eeryone just got bored.

Re: How much to charge for designs

Thank you, PattiAnn.  I did get the blessing of ATG before promoting my other account.

I don't get paid for my blog.  It often costs me money to do the projects which I may or may not actually need.  I am also retired and it is difficult for me to make ends meet.  The eHow account doesn't pay much, so far, just about $15 per month.

Just like you, I have other issues to deal with in life.  I won't burden anyone with the details, but losing a roof over my head was very hard for me.   I try to stay positive and not dwell on what I must accept.  Doing the blog helps me deal with any of my difficulties.

On to bigger and better things.  I do try to put something in to the forums to keep it moving.  Believe me, I do cringe when I see the Forum posts with my name on nearly everyone of them.  However, I try to put something interesting into a category and hope to get some people commenting.  I know people read the forum, and it is your privilege to comment or not.

The numbers are down a little, but not out of alignment with other embroidery sites (not all give statistics like ATG).  I do try to encourage everyone to support where they learn.  It is expensive to have a site and ATG is no exception.  Summertime is traditionally down because of kids being out of school, moms don't have the time to go to the Net as much; and many are on vacation.  It is a normal cycle for these sites.

I sincerely appreciate PattiAnn because then my name goes off that front page AND she is so knowledgeable.  She understands computers and machine embroidery and actively participates in the Forum.  That is a relatively rare combination.   We are lucky to have someone so willing to share with us all.  I learn from her and would love for her to do a 'guest' blog for us all.  She can pick the subject and I know everyone would be thrilled with her information.

I love machine embroidery.  I love to learn and share.  Incidental, when I find something on the Net that seems interesting, I research it and bring it to you in my blog.  I DON'T know much, but I check and try to bring a bit of fun to a project.  In my Hardanger blog, the person whose designs I used is just like you and me, a lover of machine embroidery.  She was able to get a few sales, and hopefully some new clients.  She is not a big corporation, just a person.  She did thank me by giving me a set of her beautiful designs.

Happy July 4th to all, and to the rest of the world, please indulge the United States for having a day in which we show our love of country.  Just like the other countries, we have pride and love for our homeland.

Re: How much to charge for designs

One point that might be considered is the the economy as a whole is DOWN.  That leads me to think that the many folks who once spent so much time on ATG may now be trying to feed their families rather than surfing.  I for one appreciate any and every comment that comes from anyone who takes the time to make it.  We are all individuals and our opinions vary widely.  Whe I read these forum, blogs, and comments, I try to take them all in the spirit of friendship that ATG has become known for.

As a blogger, I want you all to know that we do this out of love for the craft.  The benefits to us are counted by the helpful and sweet people who make comments and thank us for taking the time to prepare them.  We will continue to write for you, so let's all make the best of a wonderful and meaningful place called Ann The Gran.  Ann began this for us all to share with each other.

I thought it was a little odd that Pat wanted to have us click on that link, but after I thought about it, I decided to do it.  I looked at the privacy policy and they do not sell or rent names and I did not sign up I just clicked and sort of looked through it. I do have a subscription to designs in machine embroidery so I do give money to them.

I did it because if a friend asked me to click a link for her benefit I would probably do it because I support my friend.

I have seen people complaining that Ann the grand is becoming more money involved.  It is the nature of the world to need money to get things done.  I by things because I want them and I do not know where the money goes but I am sure it goes to someones wage.

In reply to using ATG to promote other sites I see nothing wrong with ti since ATG gave it's blessing.  If I remember correctly there used to me someone on the site that replied to everything and when she left I think a lot of people,k especially those from Centeral Florida went with her.  I too have noticed that there are not as may comments but that is no reason to make comments about someone who is just trying to make a little extra in these hard time.

Re: How much to charge for designs

    Hi there Everyone

It seems that we are all loosing sight of the fact that we want to learn as much about machine embroidery as possible. Well at least I do, that is why I joined this site.

I haven't had the time or the funds lately to do many projects, but I always read my site notices and take notes of what people have to say, whether it comes from this site or from another person's site.  Surely we must be grateful that Pat takes the time to let us know of info she has that would help us in the long run.  If she can make a bit of money to support herself and her family, well good for her, you don't have to buy anything if you don't want to.

I thank each and everyone of you on this site for all your contributions, even if I don't have the time to sew it's nice to read your comments.

May God bring many blessings your way, I know from the news that USA is one of the hardest hit in the recession and I really feel for you all and hope that things will come right soon.

God bless you all and thanks Pat

Amanda you are so right and I can tell you Pat is a wealth of knowledge and is more then willing to share what she knows.  She put a great deal of time and effort into her blogs and I too appreciate it.  I always learn something from what ever she writes and she will answer any questions you may have.

Keep doing what you do Pat.  We love you

Re: How much to charge for designs

    Hi Pat,

Sorry to start such a firestorm.

The only reason I questioned about advertising another site was last year there was a discussion on Viking Machines.  I had found a site that I guess you could call a blog, but they had question and answers for Viking.  It worked a lot like this site you asked something and then someone came back with an answer.  I put the site in and told a little about it.  I don't know who was the moderator but I got a note saying that it was not approved and we could not put other sites in a discussion group.

Maybe the economy has something to do with how many people are doing things but with the Holidays approaching rapidly we should start think about making things now.  It is so much nicer to receive something made just for you.

Again sorry Pat, but I think ATG should have allowed the site to Viking for it would have helped a lot of people.  I don't have a Viking, I have a Janome so I had no axe to grind.

Re: How much to charge for designs

I don't recall the Viking information.  Perhaps it came and went quickly.

My feeling is that an advertisement, where you can buy something, might be inappropriate.  But, in this case, there is absolutely no charge to you for clicking.  The site pays me for bringing traffic.  You don't have to sign up (unless you want to comment).

I want to be fair too and love doing my blog.  Perhaps someone else might be interested in taking it over.  After all, so many of you are more talented than I am.  I have asked some of the more active members if they might like to do a guest blog.  I have never gotten a response at all, so I am thinking it is not something they want to do.

However, I have not advertised to the whole site individuals, so here it comes - - I would love to see other person(s) become involved in blogging.  I would love to see new ideas and tips that you all have.  I would help you with any part of the blog you wish.  I could make suggestions, or allow you to do it all on your own.  I am open to hearing from any other party who is ready to share with us all.

I think some parties would be pleased to do a blog.  It is work, but it is a wonderful feeling when someone says they want to try my suggestion.  It is even great when someone makes an additional or contradictory suggestion.  A blog should be, and I hope mine is, a dynamic place where you are free to speak your mind.  We can disagree and still be respectful.

This has turned out to be an excellent and open conversation (at least in my mind) and I hope you all think about becoming more involved.  I too miss seeing more things in the Gallery and the Forums.  Are we all so knowledgeable that we don't still have questions???

I just did a stuffed bear for my granddaughter, Addison.  I must say, I wish I had asked for suggestions and tips before I started because it was my first and I did a lot of things wrong (after it is completed, I can see I needed guidance - there was none in the bear's package).

I will post it in the Gallery and you can see it yourself.
