Innov-is 4000D USB uploading .pes files.

When trying to upload files from a USB drive to the Innov-is 4000D the file that I saved all the .PES files under does not appear on the screen. The USB I am currentky using is a Sandisk.   Can anyone explain the process?

I am trying to use the free embriodry designs from Brother-Usa.com and save them on the USB drive. I then plug it in the correct port and click on the button to open the file in the Character Decorative Stitch section...3 file boxes appear with other random file boxes in them that I have never seen before and not the file box I created for the Brother designs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hmm, I see this has been here awhile and no one has answered. That means we are clueless, LOL. I have the ULT with floppy drive. Using that, I download designs to my computer and from there to the floppy, I don't download directly to the floppy.  That way you shouldn't ever loose the designs, especially if you make sure to back them up.

On my floppy there is only one folder that the machine will "see".  Check your manual and/or call your dealer about that, it's very possible you can now create your own folders, but I'd check that out. If the machine only sees another folder or folders, that is where I'd put my designs.

    Hello.

I, too, did not realize your question was not answered.  Oops.

I have never downloaded a free design directly to my USB drive.  Just never did it.  Usually, when I decide to keep a design, just drop it into my software program; which in this case is PED Basic utilizing WinZip.

From there, I save to my USB drive and then to the machine.

    1.  Plug in your USB drive to the correct port.  Turn on your machine.

    2.  You then must press the corresponding button; which in this case, is the USB Drive symbol.  NOT the Character Decorative Stitch button.

    3.  The design should now appear on your screen.

I purchased three (3) SanDisk USB drives and two (2) were defective.  One of the defective ones worked for a bit and then not so much.  I purchased all three in Wal-Mart.  I have sinced changed my brand of USB drives to Staples own and all is well in the world of embroidery once again.  My intent is not to bad-mouth SanDisk nor Wal-Mart.....just happened to me.

Good Luck with the USB drives...great way to transfer designs to machine.

The boxes you see that you do not recognize are the information already on the USB drive.  They are the system and other items that the USB drive uses.

Be sure that your design is not in a 'folder' because your machine cannot look into the folder.

The designs should load and open via the flash drive.  I am currently using a Sandisk cruzer.

Are you trying to open the "3 file boxes with other random file boxes in them" on your computer or on the EM?  If on the EM, the random files may be color charts for the designs.

The decorative stitches in the free Brother downloads are for the Innovis QC 1000.  They are not a ME format.

    PattiAnn,

The Brother Innov-is 4000D has a Character Decorative Stitch button along with an Embroidery and Embroidery Edit button, etc.

If a USB Drive is utilized, it must either be in the Embroidery or the Embroidery Edit area.  Then the USB Drive Symbol button must be pressed in order to read the designs from the USB Drive.

My SanDisk Cruzer USB Drives worked for about 2 months and then gave way.  I was not generalizing on all SanDisk USB drives as I still have one that does work correctly.  Just doing a whole lot better with the Staples brand is all.

    Thank-you for the information.

I do not have this particular brand/model.  The Ellegante LCD screen opens on Embroidery Edit, so the CDS function did not register.

I have also had good luck using the Sony Micro Vault.

    Hi LPLD,

I too have an innovis 4000-d. I use my USB drive on a regular basis. Once you get used to the process it is a snap! I actually create folders on the USB drive so that I don't have to go through a ba-zillion designs to get to the one I want. Such as I may have a folder for heirloom, one for cats, ect. You just press the button for the folder you want and it will open up the designs. You get the picture. Joan is correct you must press the button for your usb port on the machine for the designs to show up. You then choose the design you want, you then can push the embroidery edit button and size, move or add lettering to it right at the machine. Once you have done all of your editing you then can sew it out once you press the sewing button. This is a great machine you have and you can do so much with it right at the machine, instead of having to size or add lettering from another program.

Good luck with your machine, I just know you will love it once you get going on it. After the first couple of times it will just become second nature.

    Pat,

I will be agreeing with Judy.

Maybe your PE-700II cannot read designs set into a "folder" on a USB Drive, but the Brother Innov-is 4000D certainly can.  And, as PattiAnn stated, the boxes may be the Thread Color Change Chart that accompanied the design depending on how the user brought it over.

I, like, Judy also create a "folder" within my USB Drive labeling such as; "Flowers", "Celtic", "Matryoshka", etc.  Within these folders, I have the corresponding designs.  When brought to my 4000D, I view that particular file, click on it and then view the designs.  From that point, I click on the particular design and viola.

In reality, the original question was from a Brother Innov-is 4000D user and therefore, it would be extremely helfpful to the user if the information given corresponded accordingly.
