    Downloading with a Mac

I have a Mac, and Ambassador doesn't work on a Mac.  Do you know of another free program that I can use to convert the pes files to hus?

It seems there is next to nothing when it comes to machine embroidery software that is compatible with MAC.

It appears you need to add another program to your PC.  Here is another discussion - http://www.annthegran.com/cs/forums/p/504/1195.aspx#1195

    Re: Downloading with a Mac

HI, I HAVE A MAC OSX AS WELL.  I didn't know how I would transfer files with my Brother Quattro 6000D but finally what I do is save them to my mac then I take a memory stick and transfer them to my Windows laptop and save them to folder named files, then I can then attach the cord OSB port to the lap top to the sewingmachine, which then I can view the files.  It is a lot of trouble until you can get use to it or you have an windows computer to transfer the files too.  I was lucky that my oldest son's company deals with computers and one of his clients wanted a new windows laptop and he fixed this one of for me to use in my sewing.  I couldn't find any programs to transfer the designs directly to the machine from my Mac0SX.  If you do please let me know.  Using the memory sticks is the best way to transfer your designs from the MacOSX to the Brother machine or one that needs the PES format.

    To clarify:

USB Port A is for a cable.

USB Port B is for the media stick/flash drive.

Some embroidery machines have both ports.

I asked a few questions and this is the bottom line - "new macs come with bootcamp pre-installed, which will allow you to install a different OS, then choose which one you want to boot into. The disadvantage is that you can only run one OS at a time".

If you have MAC and it has bootcamp, install Windows and then when you want to use software that needs Windows, switch operating systems to Windows.

    Hi,

I am a  little late on this conversation but wanted you to know about another program available for the Mac to run Windows. It is called Parallels. I have my embroidery software installed on it AND you can work on the Mac AND Windows at the same time. I do download my designs to a folder on the Mac side (because I don't go on the internet on the Windows side as the Mac is more secure) and I am able to access them from Windows. You cannot see pictures of the designs on the Mac side but if you have Embird's Iconizer or 4D Embroidery Organizer installed (or maybe other software) you can see your designs on the Windows side. Sounds rather confusing but it isn't once you get the hang of it. Parallels 4 is the latest version. They have a nice site & are very helpful.
