In the past I have tried to keep notes on certain items that I worked with which required some special technique. Frankly, it was haphazard and not a good system. Frankly, I even have had to check back with my own blog, The Avid Embroiderer to see what tips I placed in there!! How is that for using my own information??
I recently decided to create documents on my computer and began being more organized and here are some of my ideas, I am sure you will have more of your own.
I am recommending that if you have a life outside of embroidery, this might work for you too:
- Download my blog and any other items of interest to you and place them in a single folder. You can put other blogs there as well.
- In addition to downloading, create a document or text of your own ideas and tips you want to remember.
- You can place photos of projects that got your attention, make sure that you put some notes on these such as where you saw it, etc.
- You could even put things like photos of 'color combinations' that you like such as a sofa or dress even if it is not embroidery.
- You can 'bookmark' or 'favorite' places, but then your information will be in two places, so I recommending downloading.
I must admit, I have dozens of ideas for upcoming posts in my blog and when I review them, I am often surprised by one or two of them that I have forgotten. There is no need to try to remember everything, but remembering where you put the info will be a great resource for you when you are ready to do a project and want inspiration.
