    Disposable Inventory

Can anyone give me a great tip on how to keep track of all of your disposbale inventory supplies such as needles, thread,

stabilizers, etc?  With limited storage space it is sometimes difficult to be sure I have all the items I need to start a project

without digging everything out and cluttering up my work space.  I like to keep everything stored away, but I need a really

good method of listing the items I have so I can know at a glance if I am out or not.  I have considered creating a spreadsheet

for this, but I don't know how practical that would be.  Please send me any tips you may have!  Thanks so much.

    Re: Disposable Inventory

I don't have the time nor the inclination to inventory my embroidery supplies.

I did, however, buy a scrapbook paper storage cart with drawers that are removable cases and use those to store stabilizer, needles and thread.  I made labels for each drawer so I know what is in them.

This an on-line add, but the carts are in the store - http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.jsp?CATID=cat2007&PRODID=xprd74098

When the supplies get low, I start a shopping list.

    Re: Disposable Inventory

It must be Spring Fever, I am rearranging my work area and trying to get a good storage method going too!

I have a really small space,  it is a 7' by 7' by 11' triangle behind my sofa.  I got two storage stacks from Walmart.  They have 7 drawers and are on rollers.  I am putting them in a closet and they will not be easily available.  However, I did take pictures of what is in each drawer so that if I decide to get something out, I can check the photos to see where my items are.

The first photo shows some of my FSL samples and ideas.  The 2nd photo is scraps of materials that I can use for test sew outs.

I also have my Pashminas here.  They are so perfect for the better weather that will be coming our way soon.

I keep my spools on a rack and right by my machine.  I do put 'net' on my spools to keep them from getting dusty or dry.  That net is really handy.  The pins are long and I place a bobbin and its spool on one peg (the bobbin on the inside).  Putting them away is not going to work.  My stabilizers are in a 3 stack drawer under my machine.  The drawers are the same as above.

I use the Hugo's Tape to hold the stabilizer along with its label.  I buy my needles in a 100 pack so I don't worry about needing those.  I keep the bulk of them in my storage drawers and keep a 10 pack in the drawer of my machine 'desk.'

I am always looking for things to hold my items.  I hope you find some great things too.
