Annetta, many suggestions have been given for making the patch and how to make it re-stickable.  I have heard patch attach is a very good product, but have not used it.

Grandmas are sometimes asked the impossible because they are so Cool

I am wondering - how many times can the patch be "re-stuck" and will it stay stuck?

How do you protect the back of it when it is not in use?

How many items will this be on?

Would it be better to have duplicates?  If not, show him how to hand stitch the patch so he can remove and replace it as often as he wants.

Let us know how this works out.

    Have a great weekend.

You can do it on tear away.  Then at walmart they have some stuff in the craft deportment that you can buy.  I think it is called tackit.  You put it on the back and let dry and then it is sticky and it will stick to clothing and then you can pull it off and it is tacky to use several times.

Just wanted to add a link to Tack-It with an overview of how to use it.  It is an Aleene's product. http://www.save-on-crafts.com/ta.html

We also carry an adhesive spray here on the site, along with a cleaning agent to remove it, at:

Re: how to back an embroidery design for a patch

This is perfect. I remembered having these large-ish glittery Christmas patches as a child in the 80's. They were made to stick and restick onto different things. My mom and I would put them on sweatshirts. It was great and you weren't stuck storeing Christmas shirts for the rest of the year. You just put the Christmas patches between sheets of wax paper and put them in the box with the rest of the Christmas decorations. They were good to go for the next year.

In thinking about those, I thought that would be great to try again even though I haven't seen them sold like that since I was a kid. This is exactly what I was looking for. THANK YOU!
