 was referred to this section of their website....I  don't agree with the changes.  I don't mind paying a nominal membership fee, but for the hassle and headache of these changes, I'm not sure its worth the amount they charge.  Its a lot more than 5$ a month if someone cant afford a yearly subscription.  If I were a contributor to the free designs, I'd be upset that ATG is making money off my donation.  GRANTED, I get my name recognized but I don't consider that free advertising.

This is what I have had for correspondence.  I'm in hopes that they can simplify their website, if they don't change it at all, I'm not interested in joining and will continue to get my downloads elsewhere, for free and for payment

Unfortunately you can't download 'free' designs unless you pay for them!

And that would benefit me how?  I clearly stated in my post that I did not and do not charge for any designs.  It appears to me that you are a great supporter of ATG and this website and their new policy.  That's great and I have no problem with that.  But the comment you made regarding my post was unnecessary.  You apparently didn't really read my post.

I have always been able to download free designs. Now Iam told that the design is only for members. Tony.

i got the same thing..its on the free designs so why do i have to be a member?  this is so sad. i use to get the same designs free at joanns.  now you want to charge me for them? haaaaa haaaaaaaa.i am sure there are other places to find free designs.

There are sites out there that say what they mean when it comes to free designs - with no strings attached!  Ann the Gran has disappointed a lot of people and it's a lot more  people than ATG are having us believe.  Even some paid up members are not happy.  As to advertising under the free designs heading, I reckon you are right in that there must be a breach of advertising law.  It definately would be here in England.  ATG has got too big for their boots and have underestimated people's response to their back-handed way of getting money for nothing.  These are free designs and should mean free.  Those that have contributed to the site to make ATG what it is today should be getting some of the membership money and I would suggest that all those contributors ask for it!  How must they be feeling that someone is making money out of something they donated freely?  The designs have been reduced in number and are now being recycled as new designs and non-members will never be offered anything 'new' in the way of designs. 

I haven't been here in awhile, but notice that the true free designs have diminished by about 75%. I understand they want people to pay for designs, but if you offer a "free designs" search, it should at least only search the designs that are truly free. Members only designs should not be listed as free designs. The two are different.

I use to enjoy searching all the designs and would even search the members designs and maybe join if there was something I really wanted. But with a slow connect speed of 26Kpbs, to load a whole page of designs that only has one true "free" design isn't really worth my time.

I liked the old way.

I am not happy with the new website.  Unless you become a member which some of us are not financially able to at this time we are limited to free designs.

I would suggest that in the interest of accuracy that you remove the "Free Design" section of this site. "Free" design are now only obtainable to club members, and, a charge is levied for membership.

Though designs are provided by through the generosity of contributers at no profit to themselves you see fit to take advantage of this charity.  I have no doubt that you also make considerable profit from "sharing " customer details with "selected" associates.

In my opinion you have completely degraded the principle and social spirit with which the site was originally conceived and implimented.  Avarice rears its ugly head again, sadly, a reflection of present day attitudes.

So free isn't really free anymore?  I have enjoyed your free designs and have downloaded several but I cannot afford to join the club, how about creating a low cost membership that allows an individual to only access all free designs without all the other perks.  Please consider it for those of us who occassionally like to browse your categories and download a design or two without having the limitation of only a few select designs. 

I was very disappointed to find out that AnnTheGran is limiting downloads for non members.  As a home economics teacher of a public school with a budget of $1000 for the entire year, AnnTheGran was a valuable resourch for my students.  The membership fee is not possible on my limited funding.  I will continue to use the free downloads when I can, but was deeply saddened to find my choices are now so limited.

    I can not downloan any of the free I always could before..........

If you check the site you will find that the design area is now labeled Download Designs. 

I can't understand how after reading Greg's explaination anyone can accuse Ann of avarice.  She has been a generous and encouraging part of the ME Community.  Ann and Greg have much "thicker skin" that I would have ... I would be saying "Ok I give up" and I would just bid everyone goodbye and close the site.

So sorry this has limited the resources for your students.

I am very interested in hearing more about your class.  A school that has home ec is novel, let alone one that teaches machine embroidery.

I am very disappointed that the site is so difficult to find your way around.  I spent over 45 min trying to find designs and now I'm giving up and wont be back to this site.  Sorry, but I dont have time to try and figure out a new site.

If I need to be a member of Ann's Club (at a cost) to download the "free designs", then, by definition, they are NOT free. You need to not use the term "Free Designs".
