Hi, Julie and welcome to ATG.

A quick way to save your downloads is to create a new folder/file in your documents file.  Name it Downloads or Embroidery or Julie's Favorites - you choose.  This is where you will send your downloads, when prompted by the PC operating system (Windows, perhaps).

Most downloads are in zip files (condensed for faster downloading).  After saving the download to your new document file, unzip the file and you will have yet another file - rename this so it is easy to find and open.  There should be the embroidery file (pes) and a text file with colors and sometimes additional information when it is an applique.

You can copy the pes file to the embroidery machine via a product like this one -

http://www.annthegran.com/Product.aspx?t=1&i=2410 if your do not already have a reader/writer unit and rewritable memory card.

To actually view the design before sending it requires an additional software program.

This one does that and more and there is a free trial download - http://www.annthegran.com/Product.aspx?t=1&i=2567

Here are free Brother designs, if interested - http://www.brother-usa.com/HomeSewing/GetCreative/free-designs.aspx

Backup your files to a flash drive or cd.  Most companies keep a copy of your purchased design downloads so they can be retrieved, but you need to keep a backup of the free downloads.

    Enjoy your new machine.

Re: Need Help Please - New to this

Welcome Julie!  Machine embroidery (ME) is the most lovely craft you will ever become addicted to!  AnnTheGran (ATG) is the premiere location on the Internet for good solid information.

May I also brag about a few things I have written?  Check out the Forum: PE700II.  While your machine is different, you will find plenty of good information as a newbie (lovingly stated name for new comers).

You might also want to check out my blog concerning information for newbies.  It is about the things a newbie can use right away.

If you are having download issues, please be specific about the error message.  Use screen capture (alt-prtsc on lots of PCs) to show us what is going on.  I am assuming that your dealer told you you need PED-Basic to complete the design to your machine process.  It normally does not come with new machines.

Welcome again, and congratulations on your machine.  This is a wonderful craft and ATG has lots of helpful new friends for you to meet.  Read, read and then, read more.  Ask questions and you will be a pro in no time!

You can use any reader/writer product that is compatible with Brother.  PED Basic is just one.  I used Magic Box for several years.

Thank you i made myself a folder last nite and transferred then into it, but does anyone know of a program that will enable you to veiw the pes program before i send it to my machine. And yes i did but the program pes basic but this only alows me to send to blank card and not from card to computer to do modified designs.

Again anymore info would be welcome and helpful.

    Thank you

Catalog Xpress.  I included the link in my first message. So much to learn - sometimes it boggles the mind!  Wink
