Help!!  I have a question, I am using the Brother SE-270 Embroidery Machine.  I am hoping someone out there can tell me how to use the machine to embroider words.  When I've tried, the letters are too large and doesn't fit on what I'm working on.

I have a Brother PE-4000D and when I ran into a snag on digitizing, I called Brother's Help Line.  They walked me through and answered all my questions.  Very professional and very willing to assist.  Once it was explained, understood exactly.

The letters on the machine you can make L-arge  M-edium S-mall, also upper and lower case, it is on the bottom of the screen once you select the letters.  I am new to this also and found this out mesing with it.  Medium worked for me with what I ws doing on a t-shirt with 6 letters.

For 15 years I have been a decorative painter....have set my sites on ME. I too have a Brother machine.  Am a newby to ME...just bought my machine (used) about a month ago.  The lettering on my machine I understand, however I want a different font and have downloaded one.  My ? is this....how do you get your word spelled out and spaced correctly?  The alphabet built into my machine does all this for me.  I am not the brightest star in the sky when in comes to puters, so am lost.  please help.thanks

I have a brother inovis1200/ When I asked at the store how to do this they told me I could either by a software pkg. that would place the letters or if your computer illiterate like I am they said to try this.

1. embroider each letter on a piece of stabelizer in the size you want.

2. cut them out

3. place them on the piece and play around with them until you like the design

4. mark each center of each letter on the fabric, then embroider

this would be ok for a few short words or monograms , but for sentences it would be awful.

An easier and faster method is to pick up Ann's Alphabet Xpress , I love it and I am sure you will as well! It is not that expensive for club members and would be a worthwhile investment.

Judy is correct about the Ann The Gran Alphabet Xpress.  I, too, own it.  Besides the alphabets, you can bring over any of your designs and incorporate them onto the Xpress screen with the lettering.   From there, right to your machine.

BUT, first...do you have an on-screen editing function on your Brother Innovis-1200 machine?  I have a Brother Innovis-4000D and have Embroidery Edit right on the machine screen.  If you do, the Embroidery Edit will allow you to arrange your lettering the way you wish.

I almost forgot Linda, Alphabet Xpress and Catalog Express are compatible as well. It is not often you find two programs that work well together.these do! You can also take your designs from Catalog Express and move them into Alphabet Xpress to add your lettering. I don't often find one program that I would recommend to folks,let alone two that are compatible with each other. I do understand that not everyone wants to spend that kind of money on a program,but to me they are worth twice what I paid for them. Alphabet Xpress is really reasonable if you are a club member. You won't find another Alphabet program that is that reasonable.You also know how expensive most of the programs are out there for your machines,so really Ann's is a bargain. It saves me so much time, This is time I can spend sewing instead of either looking for a design or trying to add lettering to one.
