    Bobbin thread weight

Should the top thread and bobbin thread be the same weight??  Would 60wt bobbin thread be ok with 40wt top thread??  Thanks!

The lower the number the heavier the weight.  Is is SOP (standard operating procedure) to use machine embroidery bobbin thread, which is usually 60wt.

40wt (heavier/thicker) on top and 60wt (thinner) on the bottom is correct.

There are a few embroidery machines that require a thinner bobbin thread, but that would be specified by the mfg.
