COULD SOMEONE PLEASE HELP OUR COMPUTER BROKE AND IT WAS XP AND DELL REPLACED IT WITH VISTA AND WE CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON WE CLICK A PATTERN AND THE BOX COMES OPEN OR SAVE WE CLICK OPEN OUR COMPUTER GOES CRAZY AND STARTS FLASHING AND THEN WE HAVE TO SHUT IT DOWN AND THEN TURN IT BACK ON COULD SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME THANKS DOROTHY FROM TENN

Get XP back on your new CP .My husbond is in the business and everyone hates vista .It is a flop and they know it. They have so much money in it they have to sell it thats why you will see it adv. on TV . Buy  windows Xp for all your future pc s ,if you can find one that is everyone is buying them up .There not making any more. I received a new Dell for Christmas and we opted for XP passing up on the Vista.  Vista has received poor press.  Everyone we know in the business world is not happy with Vista.  I thought hard about it when getting the new Dell because of my designs.  Glad I went with the XP.

The "new" Vista; Mojave is supposse to be a better program.  They had to pull themselves up by the bootstraps on this one.

However, you have the option when purchasing a new computer to install the program(s) you reqiure.  Hopefully, you can get back to the dealership and swap out.

I have a PC with XP and two with Vista. 

Is the flashing a message that the system does not recognize the format? This will happen when you try to open an embroidery machine format (such as .pes) with the PC's operating system.

If it is not a message, is it locking up? Is it having a nervous breakdown?

I use Vista more than XP and this is how I download - when I click on a design to download, the PC's operating system (vista) provides the choice of options: (1) - run the file or (2) - save the file.

I save the file, take note as to where the file is being sent...........mine go to documents.   

I can send the design from the document where the design was sent, directly to the EM via an USB port  (port A = flash stick, or port B = EM to PC cable hook-up) or to a disk.   I have embroidery editing/cataloging/digitizing software, so I leave the design where it is in the document and cut & paste it to a preselected file in the embroidery software program.

If none of this helps and your PC is a notebook/laptop, take the PC to an electronics store/department (call first to see if there will be someone available for you to speak with) and show the tech what you are trying to do...........I have yet to find a tech that understands embroidery software, but show & tell helps them understand......"this is what I want to do and this is where I want it to reside", for example.

I gave a few suggestions to Dorothy, who first posted the question - download and save - watch were the file is sent so you can find it.  Vista cannot open the file because it does not recognize embroidery formats.

If you have embroidery software, you can copy & paste or cut & paste the design from the document where Vista sent the design to the embroidery software program. 

Or you can copy & paste from the document to the drive designated for the USB port, CD or floppy - which ever method you use to transfer designs from the PC to the EM.

we kept working with ours and couldn't do anything with it and then we called dell and they told us we had a virius and they took control of the computer and cleaned it out and now it works thanks dorothy from tenn
