    Hmm [^o)] downloading free designs

I am new to all of this embroidery stuff, but am already "hooked on it" big time!  This is great fun with so many creative opportunities.  Now, I do not seem to be able to download the freebies on this site.  My machine is a Brother Inovis 900D and my software is PED Basic.  When I click on a design it will go to my download folder, but nothing is in the folder.  Should I be doing something else?  Also, is there a way to view the designs before downloading?  My machine only takes 4"x4" designs.

The downloads are zipped and have to be opened. Your PC software should be able to unzip the file. During the download process, your operating system will indicate the name of the file and where it is being downloaded to.

I have Vista and I just did a download that went to my documents.  From there unzipped the file and I was able to view the version of the design that is in jpeg, printed out the PDF instructions (I had chosen an applique).

Now I will stitch it out.

I chose pumpkin patch applique to test.

    So many things to learn!!

When you do the download, there is a choice to "Open" or "Save."  I recommend using the "Open" but you can save if you perfer.  After selecting "open" your computer should go into "Zip" mode and you should get the designs in multiple formats.  If that did not happen, you need to get a Zip software.  There are several free Zip softwares, so Google "zip software" and find one you like.

If you got them unzipped, select your format and 'right click' your mouse.  Select 'move.'  Put that file where you want your designs to be located.

If the PED-Basic is not recognizing your format, you may not have selected "PES" which is your format.  Another issue can be that, in the upper left corner, it may show a design size that is wrong (too large).  Adjust that to the 4" x 4" or 100 mm by 100 mm.

Let us know if you are successful or you have other issues.  ATG users are really helpful and supportive.  Catch one of my blogs if you get a chance.  I usually have tips for new and veteran ME users.
