I got an email from Kmoses and thought it was a good question.
Pat I have looked at some of your designs, and I must say they are great! I am new to this and have more than my share of problems, I must say some of these terms are a little strange to me. I have searched help, after help and still can not find my answer. You seem like you have your act really together, I was wondering if you might could help me with my problem. I purchased some new fonts, when I open it alll the fonts comes up, I click on the letter I want and it puts it on the screen, when I go to put on my second letter, Here's where the problems comes in it put it on a different screen. Like I am starting a new design. I have searched Ann the Gran web site and can't seem to find any helpful suggestions, Just thought you might could help. does none of these have instructions for beginners!!!! I guess that's what I fall in, if you could help I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
Well, I only have one design for sale, so if you like the designs, there are many people to thank and appreciate. The for sale and freebies really are great and I am glad you like them.
Since you are a 'newbie,' a lovingly given name, there is so much to learn that there is not just a single place to start. I do recommend that you plan to do a lot of reading and question asking. We all went through it and I can say that the machine embroidery (ME) community here at AnnTheGran (ATG) are all helpful and willing to assist.
My first recommendation of reading material is my blog, "What I wish I had known when I started ME." You will recognize yourself in some, if not all of the questions and issues. One of the statements is about Fonts and Alphabets. Fonts are normally lettering that will allow you to create words. You do need some sort of software to do that, but essentially, these letters are more flexible than the Alphabets. Alphas are usually used for Monograms and will also need assistance of some software to create monogramming.
Frankly, I have never seen that piece of information in all my travels over the Internet. Some how we all figure that out and there is no tutorial for it.
Check through my archives (I sound so arrogant here - LOL) for more information. You and other, more experienced ME will find a tip or two because that I why I write it. I do write it from my point of view, so there may (and probably are) be other methods of handling a project, but I write about how I do an embroidery project.
There are also blogs for sewing (Stitchin Shortcuts
), cross stitching (Cross Stitching
) and Quilting (LaRue Sews
). AnnTheGran
does a fun blog too, and hers is on subjects from travel to digitizing.
One more thing to read. . . . (sorry, but you are going to learn the easy way . . . or the hard way, ruined projects and frustration). I have a Forum about the PE700/PE700II. While it is aimed at the Brother machine, you will find info for use with any machine.
This should keep you busy for a day or two. Seriously, you need info and ATG and the community is here to help you!
