    Design downloads

I guess I'm just not getting it! How do you download designs to use? I have a Husqvarna SE (and I'm very new at it)

I don't know what I need to buy or use to"unzip" and down load on to a "stik" so I can use them.

    HELP....

    Thank you so much,

Hope...or should I use my real name of "Hopeless"

What a lovely name - Hope!

Welcome to Machine Embroidery (ME) and AnnTheGran (ATG) - (more initials to follow...LOL)

Depending on your computer system, most PCs have a "Zip" file and when you download a "Zipped File," the computer may unzip the files automatically for you.  For reasons that are uninteresting and too lengthy, the files are in PES format which is not the correct format for your machine.

You can download the 30 days trial version of Catalog Xpress to change to your format.  Catalog Xpress for 64-bit Vista is currently suffering from a 'bug' and Support is frantically trying to fix it.  (Bill Gates understands these things - that is why he recently retired!), but it works fine in every other operating system. Catalog Xpress is really a very good software and when it is working correctly, you will want to give it a try.  It will keep you organized with your designs which is really challenging.

I hope you find your visit to ATG to be helpful and interesting.  I have a blog here about endless hooping.  Tomorrow, Friday the 8th, I will have a new one and I am sooooo excited about it.  If you get a chance, please do stop by and leave a question or comment.

Users here are really helpful and genuinely knowledgeable.  The Support group is really great too.  Join us again, we are fun (no one paid me to say any of that!  Therefore, I am the funnest.....LOL)

    Hi, Hope.

Here is a free program for converting machine embroidery formats. http://www.pulsemicro.com/Product%20Pages/tdgmlbp/tdgmlbp_ambassador.htm

I have used this program (Pulse Ambassador) with successful results.  It has been a while since I have needed it, but take a look.  The program may also unzip your design.  Be sure to rename the designs (most are identified with a series of letters and numbers) so you can easily recognize them later on.

Best wishes for many successful projects and loads of fun with ME.

    Hope,

Welcome to the world of ME.  Ann's site is usually the first one recommended by most dealers and for good reason.  You will find tons of information here and everyone is always willing to help.  I have an SE also;  there's a lot of information to absorb so don't get frantic right off the bat.   I hope you have a dealer that provides classes for your machine.   If not I'd suggest spending some time just going through your manual and practicing with the designs that came with the machine before you do anything else.  If you do a search on Yahoo "free zip" you will find a number of sites with free programs and many that have 30 trials.  The free ones work just fine.   Good luck and remember, before you start pulling your hair out, Ann's group most always has someone that can help.

    Linda
