    Re: Catalog Xpress 2.5

    ladybug123:

why does it say 2.0 instead of 2.5

The program is actually 2.5, although you may see some references to 2.0. The new version that we put up but have had to take down does include changes in text throughout the program to clearly show that it is version number 2.5. Even though customers have been using 2.5 for over a year now, some places in the program showed the version to be 2.0, which was incorrect. The only place 2.0 still remains in the new version is in the installation directory--C:\Program Files\AnnTheGran\Catalog XPress 2.0.

We will be re-posting the new installation file as soon as we get a few kinks worked out. In any case, as long as you have downloaded the program you are now using within the last year, you can rest assured that you have the latest and best version of the software.

    just starting

    Hi all,

Purchased years ago catxpress, but had computer issues etc...and here I am starting over again.  Where do I begin with zillions of designs???  Do I move designs from the normal Embroidery folder on "c" drive over to catxpress.  Do I download from net to c drive or to catxpress??  So confused and just not sure.  Thanks for any help, need it badly.  Have Vista and cannot see any of my designs????all have the symbol for adobe???  So computer useless.

    thanks so much

    Re: just starting

Carolyn, there will be more comments and suggestion from others, but for now, this is my method:

I created a folder on the hard drive (c) for the downloads, remembering the name given to the folder so when I download I can save to the correct folder.

I keep a back-up of the designs on a flash drive and update very time I edit or add a design.

You can open, view, edit and convert if needed with CX.

No matter which Windows operating system you are using, it does not recognize ME formats, hence the need for CX or similar software.

If Vista is not the original OS you used when you first got CX, you may (or may not) need an update for your version of CX.

Install CX and open a file to see if it is working OK with Vista.

    Hello Carolyn,

Just a note to add to what PattiAnn stated.

Remember that Catalog Xpress does not take the place of your Embroidery Folder on your "C" Drive.  It is to be used in conjunction with your Embroidery Folder on your "C" Drive.

Catalog Xpress is an Organizational Tool.   It has many attributes but it is an organizational software.  I have been avoiding Vista so I am unable to help you in that area.  You may need to update your previous Catalog Xpress or check with ATG Customer Service.

Whatever, don't get frustrated.  It will get worked out.

    Hi Pattiann,

Thanks so much for your quick response.  I sure must be dense, still un-sure.  okay...Say I download a design from the internet and save to my "embroidery" pending folder.  Then would I drag it over or send a copy to the Catalogxpress proper catergory folder????? then move design in the embroidery folder to the proper category in the embroidery folder??????  Am I making any sense, gosh...sure hate not getting it. must be an age thing(hopefully)  I guess I need a full blow by blow map.

again, thanks for your time and help

    Happy Weekend, Carolyn.

I use Designer's Gallery, a similar product.  When I open DG, the drives show up on the left of my screen.  I select the drive where my designs are stored and then select the folder where I want to view the designs I am looking for.

If CX works the same way, it is just a method of viewing, editing and saving.

Saving should allow you to designate where you want to store the design.

    Re: just starting

    Carolyn,

To elaborate a tad more of what PattiAnn suggested:

    Open Up Catalog Xpress:

    1.  Choose Category Title where design will be placed.  Right Click on that Category Title - Click on Insert Designs.

    2.  A Pop-Up Window will appear.  From this Window, you must find the area your design is saved/stored.  Once this designation has come into view, Click in the Box - go below and Click on OK.

    3.  Design should now appear on your Category Page within the Catalog Xpress.

    4.  When completed, Go to Tools at top of page - Click on Database - Click on BackUp - Proceed with Database Backup - Click OK.

Step No. 4 is very important when you have completed transferring your designs into Catalog Xpress.  If this step is not followed, the designs you recently placed there, will not be saved and you will have to start all over.

    Good Luck.

    Catalogue Express

I purchased Catalog Express ver. 2.5, but when I enter the code, it is asking me for ver. 1.

I had catalog express ver.1 a long time ago, and ver. 2.5,  but my hard drive crashed. I bought ver 2.5 again, but I can't find

ver.1 anywhere on your website. I will gladly buy it again, if I can find it.

    Can you help>

    Catalog Xpress newby

I tried calling AnntheGran with a question about Catalog Xpresss. I'm on day three of 30 to see if I can use this and can justify the expense. The lady who called me back (within 15 minutes!) seemed very nice, but because of her accent, I couldn't understand what she was trying to tell me. Can someone explain why I can download designs only to be told they are Not Found? They're still on my computer where I put them from the original location where I bought them....

Have you unzipped the design files you downloaded?

    Re: Catalog Xpress newby

I suspect that you 'moved' your designs to Catalog Xpress and then deleted or moved your designs from your computer.

Catalog Xpress does not "Hold" designs, it holds the information about the designs.  Catalog Xpress is a "data base" not a "file folder."

You must keep your designs on your computer or USB drive.  That is the most common reason for getting that error message.  If you know how to do a screen print, you could show what you are seeing.  Sometimes others see something that you are not aware of at the present time.  All software requires a learning curve, and CatX is one of the easiest to use that I am aware of.

As The Computerist, I am doing 'Tips' for Catalog Xpress, and you can see them starting here.  There are 4 tips, and will be several more.

    Re: just starting

Did you unzip the file that you downloaded?

Start where you originally saved the download (documents).

Highlight the file and select unzip or extract all.

The file in the format that you selected at purchase will then be available.

If there are multiple formats, select and save the one required by your machine.

If this is not the solution, please check with customer service regarding the error message by clicking on CONTACT at the bottom left of any screen.

    Problem with Catalog Xpress

I have used Catalog Xpress since 11/09 without any problems.  Last week it worked fine.  I opened it today, and there are no categories present.  Under the tools menu, the options related to categories are grayed out.  I tried database repair; that didn't work.  I also tried to "repair" the installation through control panel; no success there, either.

    Can you please help?
