Help! I can't get my Pfaff 7570 nor my Brother 8500D to work!

I got a new computer with Windows Vista operating system, and it did not have the 9 pin driver to hook my embroidery machines up to so I bought a 9 pin adapter that ran off a USB port.

This adapter software would not complete Setup with Vista, and they did not have an update available. So I bought a new driver for my computer with two 9 pin hookups so that i could get both machines set up at once.

Problem solved right? Wrong! Neither machine worked.

Thought that I found the problem though. The driver was set up to run on com5 and com6; and the Pfaff was to run on Com1, com2, com3, or com4.

So I called the place where I bought the driver, and they told me how to change the com 5 and 6 ports on the driver to com 1 and 2.

I thought that surely the sewing machines would work now right? Wrong!

The message changed on the Pfaff to check the cables instead of not communicating, but the Brother still just says no security device installed.

The Brother dealer had gone out of buisness so I went to see my Pfaff dealer, and they told me that I had to reset the compatibility in the software to see if I could get one which would work.

To do this I had to restart Windows each time going through Windows 95 and on up.

I spent the rest of the afternoon doing this and none of the compatibilities work.

Then I come here for answers and my problem seems to be that neither machine will work with Vista.

My question is will they work with Windows 7?

I have been told that Windows 7 does not have the problems that Vista does, and most software programs will work with it.

Has anyone tried it yet? Does it work with these two machines?

I know that the new Pfaff Creative Vision will solve all my problems, and I would do about anything to be able to purchase it, but I am $9000 short of the cash to pay for it with poor credit history and a hubby with lung cancer who was told today that they have done about all that they can do for him who is no longer able to work so buying this machine is just not going to happen.

So how do I get my two older model embroidery machines softwares to work?

Design files not showing up

I had been creating designs on my computer for my Babylock Ellageo easily for years. But I have a new problem. I can see them on my computer - anywhere I chose to store them. But when I try to read them either from a thumb drive or the removable (direct connect) drive, the design files don't show up. Anyone know what I have started doing wrong?????

In the manual, there are instructions on how to do embroidery around applique designs. I still haven't been able to figure it out! Any suggestions?

Embroidery Business

I am thinking of starting an embroidery business. I did purchase the How Much to Charge (http://www.annthegran.com/Product.aspx?t=1&i=23931. I like this very well. It had more than I thought.

Now I am looking for your ideas about if you do have a business. Where do you sell? Who are your clients. Do you know something special to tell about business?

I just have a Babylock and it is not a professional type machine. Is it reasonable to do a small business with it

which digitizing software people are using

I am curious what software everyone is using & how they like it.

Also, please include if you usually use it to digitize a complete design from scratch, OR edit a design already done?

I am finding myself most often in the position of having to digitize a complete design (usually logo's for shirts). Usually this is lettering & some sort of pic.

Have any of you found a truly "good" software for "photo-stitching" ?? I can share that MasterWorks is not a good software for "photo-stitching", although so far I like it for many other things.

Do you find that "one" software does most of everything, or do you still feel the need to use different software for different applications of your design?

Free Designs

Do I have to pay a fee in order to open the free designs. I've been a member for a long time. I was a member when I had my old computer and a different address as well and never had to pay for the free designs.........I'm on a small fixed income, but would be willing to pay, if it's not too much, after all, it does say free.

I just can't open them or download them any longer.

Going rate for embroidery lessons

What is the going rate where you live for private (or group tutoring) for machine embroidery lessons? My 1st quote from the local dealership was $75 an hour. Yikes???? That seemed a LOT to me, but I am new and maybe that was ok, but I decided to 'shop around'. I found another shop owner who charged me $25 per hour. That seemed much more reasonable.

downloading free designs

I am currently taking a class in making a tubular quilt, but the teacher does not currenly have the complete instructions, and I would like to make more of them, but with directions because I'm a first time quilter of this type quilt.

I have downloaded many applique embroidery designs. I understand the designs that have applique position and applique material next to each other, but I don't understand tha designs that have appilque position and applique material scattered through the color instructions. Does it mean something different to do with the material or position?

Need to enter a space in text on PE-700ii

I am new to home machine embroidery, just got our first machine about 2 weeks ago.

I cannot figure out how to enter a space in my text that is in my machine. I am using a Brother PE 700ii.

Also, is there a way to enter multiple rows of text to embroider together instead of entering as individual lines?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I can't sethe designs to select what I want to download as it asks for the name of the designer and I don't know. I preferred it when I could just see the desings and select what I wanted. I still use floppies with s Brother Machine Pes and have never had any trouble now If I want a dog or a cat I can't get to it. I can do catergory and then I am stuck.

embroidering on purchased baby blanket

I need to embroidery a name and birthdate on a purchased blanket. It is a plush minky feel fabric on one side; the other side is like a polyester satin. Does anyone have suggestions as to what stabilizer and needle size and how to hoop? Thanks for any help.

I am having trouble getting my border clean. I run a running stitch and then trim. Place the emblem on a tearaway and finish the border. When I do the tearaway ot leaves a fuzzy edge. Any wuggestions on making a cleaner edge?
